Executive Board | North American Society for the Sociology of Sport

The North American Society for the Sociology of Sport (NASSS) will hold elections for four positions on the executive board this year. We are seeking enthusiastic and effective leaders like you to run for office! Nominations are open to current NASSS members, who can self-nominate or nominate other members with their permission. The nomination period is Monday, April 6 through Monday, April 20, 2026 (two weeks) for the positions below: President-Elect (3-year commitment). Secretary (2-year position). Member-at-Large (MAL) (1 position: US, Canadian, or international) (2-year position). Graduate Student Representative (2-year position). Newly elected board members will begin their duties by attending Board meetings at the 2026 NASSS annual conference. To find out more about these positions, feel free to contact a current or past NASSS Board member here (https://lnkd.in/gTR3AB4s). More details about the positions can be found in the NASSS Constitution and Bylaws, and in the Policy and Procedures Manual, which are accessible to members from the NASSS website (https://lnkd.in/gTJMXzcz). If you are interested in standing for election, you can self-nominate yourself by sending an email to any member of the Elections Committee. Please approach others you feel are a good fit for these positions as well; you may nominate other members after obtaining their permission. Members interested in standing for election will send a brief bio, following a standard bio template, which will be posted on the official ballot (we will send all nominees a template with the standard format). The nominating period will remain open until Monday, April 20, 2026, and the elections will be held shortly thereafter. Current NASSS members are eligible to vote in the upcoming elections and to run for office. Memberships for the 2026 calendar year are available at this site: Join NASSS.
