“The Diocese of El Paso has shut down its long-running legal aid ministry to unaccompanied child migrants, as the Trump administration withholds almost $1 million in funding for work already performed.” www.ncronline.org/news/diocese...

The Trump administration still disappears immigrants in less extreme situations that can result in their inability to contact a lawyer or allows the government to more easily deport them without due process. These situations, too, can and should be reported to the UN WGEID.

ICE shot Joan Sebastian Guerrero in the head in front of his 3-yr-old daughter in his car today and didn't even try to pretend that the agent was acting out of concern for his own safety the way they usually do. No, he did it "out of concern for *public* safety." This seems very bad.

I feel bad for the players who did not ask to get thrown into this political situation. USMNT’s leadership had a choice to make: accept the spoils of a corrupt deal made by a despot, or choose not to play the player who had a red card, despite FIFA’s corrupt decision. They chose wrong.

I saw the gorgeous new mural dedicated to Wong Kim Ark in SF Chinatown today! He’s the Chinese American who sued the U.S. government in 1898 and established birthright citizenship for all babies born in the U.S. It’s a huge mural and I could not get it all in one shot.

With this ruling, the birthright issue is not going away. The right hasn't really begun *organizing* around getting rid of the citizenship clause. Like Roe, this will be their fight for a generation. And if the Democrats just say "we won" and ignore it, like Roe, the Republicans will eventually win.

The Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2008 (8 USC 1232(a)(5)(D)(i)) GUARANTEES that unaccompanied children have a right to full removal proceedings. Idk what HHS and DHS are trying to do, but it smells both illegal and cruel: www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026...

The Supreme Court's decision in the Temporary Protected Status case proves the Supreme Court *is* racist. They don't merely affirm Trump's racism, they endorse it. And while that's not "news" for anyone paying attention, it's still outrageous. My latest in @thenation.com

The Supreme Court Once Again Endorses Trump's Racism

The court took a look at Trump's obviously bigoted handling of the Temporary Protected Status program and said, "Nothing to see here."

I am begging people who care about immigrants in big cities and far away from the border to be mad about this. We have seen over and over again Congress trade away meager protections for people in the interior while mega funding Border Patrol and hurting asylum seekers at the border.
