Only a fool would doubt the Seattle Mariners

Luis Castillo broke the playoff curse and is the greatest trade of the Jerry Dipoto Era, which is an era of infinite time so you know it must be good. Go win the World Series for the Pope, Luis 🫡🫡🫡

Per Spotrac there are 13 teams with lower 2026 payrolls than the Mariners. 10 have better records than Seattle. This season thus far is a comprehensive failure: players, manager, front office

Me, in a quiet car right after seeing THE ODYSSEY “ANYWAY I THOUGHT IT WAS A REALLY GOOD MOVIE! WHAT DO YOU MEAN WHY AM I SHOUTING IM TALKING NORMAL I DONT SOUND LOUD TO ME! ARE YOU SURE I AM SHOUTING I FEEL LIKE IT SOUNDS LIKE IM WHISPERING”

one thing you need to understand when you watch a major league baseball game is, these guys are some serious big league ballplayers. they're the real deal. i'm talking about some real big-time types of guys

One potential Ross Douthat replacement at the New York Times whose name I've heard a bunch of times: Drunk Man In Unbuttoned Yankees Jersey Who Pronounces The Mayor's Name "Zor-HAN." Times higher-ups believe he speaks to the same demographic while communicating in a distinctive and populist style.

Through 107 games the Mariners are 52-55. Here's how they've finished the last 55 this decade: 2021: 33-22 2022: 33-22 2023: 33-22 2024: 29-26 2025: 33-22 It'd be their greatest trick but they aren't dead yet. 33-22 is 85 wins and almost certainly a division title.

I did not think they’d struggle to reach .500, but I did find it wild to see media and projection systems pointing at 92-95 wins. The org predictably did not improve itself over the offseason, and there was absolutely no way the positional group was collectively going to repeat 2025.

I think I still think the Mariners will make the playoffs this year but I have never felt less sure about that than I do today. August could make their traditional scorching September mandatory, and that’s a really tough ask.
