Social change, social care, social life.
It will still be 29°C at 9pm tomorrow. There are no words for how much I hate this.
Today experienced the 24th day of year hitting 30C in London. For perspective in whole of 1980s we had 21 days.
Why change a winning formula like this? Always the same, always the same youtu.be/D6d_Fh91X5Y

The butterflies really are incredible this summer aren’t they
Well, the West Yorkshire I remember from going to see family as a kid was not the one I encountered this weekend. The wonderful Piece Hall for The Flaming Lips, Salt Mill for David Hockney and Hebden Bridge’s first ever Pride Parade this morning… wow. And in summer sun it really is God’s country.
There’s this small window each year where the sun sets thru this gap, and then we go on our summer holiday in August and when we get back it’s set before it reaches it. Another year lived. Sun setting.
At its best social care helps us to live well in the place we call home when we need some extra support to do so. How it can do so for everyone, everywhere is where the debate about a National Care Service or how to fund adult social care must begin #SocialCareFuture #LiveWell
Why 'Live Well' is a better focus for social care reform than a 'National Care Service' neilcrowther2.substack.com/p/living-wel...
Just had to go to A&E after slicing the end of my finger. Came out to this unsettling sight #28DaysLater
As nostalgia goes, last night with Badly Drawn Boy, the Beta Band & Super Furry Animals was about as perfect as it gets. 🎵If there’s something inside that you want to say, say it out loud it’ll be ok 🎵
Do others have a TV series that feels like your generations TV series? Mine is Our Friends in the North, being repeated in BBC4 right now. Came out as the Tories’ grip on power subsided & Labour were in the ascendant & ends with the best use of a song in a drama ever. And it had Gina McKee in it.
Went up some big hills. Walked the longest I’ve ever walked. Legs is sore.
Both (separate) lifts on either side of the block of flats where I Iive have packed up cos of the heat in London tonight. The engineer is here having already released 7 people across London stuck in broken lifts for the same reason. Haven't ever read about that in the climate change discourse.....
When reality surpasses fiction! Top: fictional forecast for August 2050, broadcast by French TV in 2014 to warn about the consequences of global warming. Bottom: Real French forecast for yesterday, June 22, 2026.
In a somewhat strange counter-narrative it's actually a bit cold in London this evening. That wasn't in the script was it?
BBC News showing Andy Burnham today and how he might look in 3 years time.
For the past 2 years, people across Scotland in social care have worked together to rethink how we talk about adult social care. That work is now live - new guidance from the University of Stirling 👇 buff.ly/3PHLwSn We’re proud to have played a part. #SocialCareScotland #ReframingCare
Introduction |
Adult social care touches all our lives, yet the public story we tell often focusses on crisis. That makes it harder to build the understanding and support Scotland needs for long-term change. …

David Morrissey is an incredible actor. To mix shock, shame, vulnerability, pride and power in a handful of micro expressions after his characters vile, horrific final act in #TipToe. Wow. But jeez that was a gut wrenching, awful, deeply worrying watch.
Absolutely peak Kemi. Magnificent work.
Badenoch: "As it happens, the Equality Act does not protect class, so you would not be able to use it to for white working-class boys" Interviewer: "Labour [the govt] want to extend it so that it does cover class: Badenoch: "This is just going to complicate things further"
