For my cats, "pspsps" is not a lure or a calling. "PSST" is a scolding, a sharp sound that drives them away from doing naughty things, like sitting on the kitchen counter. Don't yell at cats. It has the opposite intended effect. Boji hates that sound to the point of biting if I do it near his ear.

Meet Growley! An advanced genetic experiment designed for deception and overwhelming combat, this experiment possesses the unique ability to create multiple gargoyle like clones of itself. Rather than fighting alone, it uses these duplicates as substitutes to confuse opponents.

#MSH45 | May 18, 1980 Thirty Forest Service and contract crew members were planting noble firs just five and a half miles south of Mount St. Helens—seedlings grown from cones collected above Spirit Lake. At 8:32 a.m., the mountain erupted. Supervisor Kathy Anderson radios: “We’ll leave."

Mount St. Helens as it appeared on the morning of May 18, 1980, viewed from the south. The symmetrical summit is dusted in ash, with deep grooves from weeks of steaming and minor activity visible down the flanks.

Photo by Kevin Millican. An ash cloud begins to rise from Mount St. Helens shortly after 8:32 a.m., as seen from the south side. The eruption column billows upward as dark material shoots skyward, framed by evergreens in the foreground. A lower plume to the right is likely connected to the lateral eruption.

Photo by Kevin Millican. The eruption intensifies as a dense ash cloud roils into the sky, stretching above the tree line. Steam and ash pour from the breached summit, with mushrooming plumes forming behind the southern ridges. The flanks of the mountain are covered by ash.

Photo by Kevin Millican.A thick, dark pyroclastic surge descends from the mountain’s crater toward the timberline, part of the lateral blast cloud sweeping outward. Multiple lobes of ash-filled turbulence spread outward, erasing the view.

July 9, 1949 Forest Service photographer Leland Prater takes advantage of a beautiful summer morning by capturing scenes on and along the peaceful waters of Spirit Lake. Mount St. Helens, crowned jewel of the newly renamed Gifford Pinchot National Forest, rises to the south, mirrored below.

I am not in the business of toe-stepping, but I want to talk about a toe-stepping topic for a moment without stepping on toes in any deliberate fashion. It is inevitable, however, that if I do step on a toe, it was not to disparage, mock, or damage your toes. With that being said ... CW: Racism 🧵

This next week is going to be quite busy for me, this is my last free day until I recover from wisdom teeth extractions. Here's to hoping it all goes well...

We live in a world of double standards upon double standards. It can't always be helped, can it? Trying to chop off one problem more often than not leads to two others growing. Better to live and let live until there is something the collective can do to change the way the world functions. Vote.
