Let’s be clear here, when scientists say mistakes were made at the start of the pandemic, we DO NOT mean that we did too much. We mean not socially distancing quickly enough, not making tests widely available, and not acknowledging COVID is airborne and distributing N95 masks to everyone.
Time for the second amendment people to step up and insist on the "well regulated" part.

Just heard a good idea from @jbf1755.bsky.social : If you read something online that enrages you, ask yourself who out there might want you to be enraged, and look at why they are sharing it now. This goes along with the necessity of checking what you read to make sure it's true.

One of Hegseth's favorite tricks for lying about losses is to issue wounded service members orders assigning them to a care facility. That way, he can claim that they "returned to duty."
To the people who claim (or seem to) that the only way to have 'community' is "a group of people that look, sound, and behave just like me", i say: Skill issue. Grow up. Stop living in fear of difference and diversity. (And of face masks that some people need to wear for their health.) #auspol
I think it's wild that the USA accepts nepotism as business-as-usual when it comes to appointing successors for deceased Senators. I remember when a MHR from a neighbouring electorate tried to use his influence to have his wife preselected for a state seat, and the voters threw him out too.
Can you even call yourself a democracy if you don't have compulsory voting?

More people stayed home than voted for Trump OR Harris, and the more you tell them "We don't care about you, we don't care what you want, your needs don't matter," the more people join them.
Not only Trump. His staff, his Cabinet, his bought-and-paid-for Supreme Court. And Elon Effing Musk.

What’s the word for being so indoctrinated into capitalism that you become fascist? Like you’ve so internalised that you have no value as an individual, that you can never be more than a cog, that now you have to force this philosophy onto others.
I look for info on the McConnell situation about 5 times a day, because--legitimately--as a mystery writer I have a major interest in how you hide a dead body.
