I spoke w/ @kayliwewe.bsky.social for @newlinesmag.bsky.social about the search for a new ICC prosecutor. States Parties & candidates will likely face intense US pressure (re Netanyahu & Gallant warrants, Palestine investigation, & shielding US officials). To succumb would be a catastrophic mistake.

NEW: The ICC is searching for a new chief prosecutor at a defining moment. As @kayliwewe.bsky.social writes in @newlinesmag.bsky.social, the new leader will inherit major cases, political pressure and questions over whether the court can regain trust. newlinesmag.com/spotlight/th...

Should I use my sick leave (on sick leave till at least mid September) to do a full watch in chronological order of all the Star Wars series and movies in preparation for the release of the Zero Company game at the end of August (which I'm excited to play because XCom)?

If I may offer a piece of advice, as someone from a country which has gone through similar challenges (Croatia). What may be useful is a change of thinking. By providing the best available defense to Russians, you are, in fact, providing it to your own legal system. www.thetimes.com/article/85a1...

there are a lot of philosophical concepts that get egregiously misused out of the seminar room (and in the seminar room, to be fair). but in terms of sheer pernicious misuse "social construct" has gotta be top 5 somewhere and it's not number 5

Channel 4 has announced documentary “The Great ADHD Myth?” It “seeks to determine whether ADHD is a genuine neurodevelopmental disorder, or a social construct.”

If your customers are writing in saying "hey your choices are funding trans genocide and I am not giving you any more money," maybe "every purchase comes with a 5% donation to GLAAD" is not the glory-restoring answer you seem to think it is.

Just your random reminder that AI companies are not your friends and do not actually give a shit about making your life better. Generative AI is built on theft & data centers are destroying the environment. If people want to use AI, no one can stop them but there's currently no ethical use of AI.

I can't speak to issues like humanitarian aid, but I can say with certainty that Elon's DOGE cuts impacted watchdogs such as the Worker Rights Consortium (WRC). Let me tell you about it. 🧵

“Churches – perhaps even more so, deconsecrated churches, which no longer hold any sacred status – are ideal spaces for reclamation by the queer community for art and performance.” Queer art emerges in all spaces. We need to cultivate queer culture by giving artists, not landlords, greater control.

The long, global history of queer art in churches

Divine Playhouse, a queer arts venue in a deconsecrated church, was forced to close its doors in Sydney last week. It doesn’t have to be this way.

A government official in Australia says the Northern Territory needs data centres to use lots of water so......the Earth's axis doesn't flip

“There is a particular cruelty in asking queer culture to make itself smaller to accommodate the sensibilities of people who have spent so long arguing for our erasure. Queer history is, in so many ways, a history of people refusing to disappear…” We must defend queer cultures and hold our spaces.

LGBTQI+ artists have been targeted for ‘insulting Christianity’. To queer people, this feels particularly cruel | James Thorpe

A theatre pop-up in a former Sydney church has been accused of ‘offensive trade’. But if causing offence can lead to eviction, every artist is vulnerable

So my partner, a labour lawyer, was talking about an upcoming Labor conference that someone she knows is going to but I was unsure if it was for Labor, the political party, or labour the employment law field. She said "It's Labor, the one without the U" and that's the best description of the ALP

The thing about these bans is that they filter down to even rec leagues. These tennis associations such as the USTA also oversee amateur and rec league regulations. So a trans woman wanting to do some casual matches with friends is also banned. It's about exclusion, not fairness.

Trans women have been allowed to compete in women's tennis for nearly fifty years since Renee Richards won her case in 1977. It hasn't been an issue in all that time. Now they're mandating these invasive genetic tests to screen out trans and intersex women. www.devdiscourse.com/article/spor...

I won't say that this was enjoyable to record because talking about how my queer community is being demonised is always awful, but it is an important conversation with people whose company I value and enjoy.
