The official account of the Nelson County Democratic Committee in Virginia.

While Trump spends his time on grotesque building renovations, self-serving voter suppression tactics and bitcoin schemes, Americans are having to make hard decisions at the grocery store. Virginia, and the country, can’t afford legislators who enable the current administration. Vote Democratic.

Trump tried to hold the bipartisan housing affordability bill hostage. His ploy didn’t work because there weren’t enough votes in Congress to do his bidding. The bill became law without his signature. Wouldn’t it be great if all our representatives on the Hill would always hold him accountable?

Wow, Nelson. You showed up for democracy last night to attend our forum and roundtable discussions with U.S House of Representatives candidates running in the Aug. 4 Democratic Primary. Thank you to Dr. Suzanne Krzyzanowski, Rob Tracinski and a representative of Tom Perriello for participating.

The fate of our country could hinge on the 2026 midterms, so here’s the plan: Let’s nominate a Democratic candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives who will carry us to victory in November. Attend our Candidate Forum on June 24 and learn more about the Democrats seeking the nomination.

We're going to take back our country one election at a time and, for the 5th District, that means electing a Democrat to the U.S. House of Representatives. The first step is nominating a candidate, so please join us on June 24 and get to know the three Democratic Primary candidates. See you there.

Since our congressman, John McGuire, has time to stand around waving at cars, let's put his time to better use, like calling and telling him to push back against Trump’s $1.8 billion slush fund. While we’re at it, let's ask if he’s ever going to hold a public town hall. 202-225-4711 or 434-791-2596.

While the GOP wants to spend $1 billion on a ballroom, Democratic Senators Kaine and Warner took a deep dive into what that much money could actually buy for Virginians who are struggling to make ends meet. Turns out, it's a lot.
