FGEN Announces: Councillor Pledge for LGBTQ+ Rights In the run up to local elections across the UK, FGEN is calling on candidates to sign this pledge letter affirming their support for LGBTQ+ rights and opposing efforts to roll them back. 1/2
I'm proud to've signed up to this as a council candidate for the Greens in Newcastle - the current attack on LGBTQ+ rights isn't some remote culture-war issue but something happening on the ground, in our communities, to our neighbours and loved ones, and it's up to us to stand with them.

Re-upping this again, because it’s a great take-down of the restrictive transphobic “data” activism.

Re-upping this article in the Guardian Oz, about my research into the extreme harm being caused by Wes Streeting's puberty-blocker ban. UK mainstream media has collectively ignored my research (as I expected) but not the Guardian Australia. Needless the UK and US Guardian's didn't share it.
Puberty blocker bans in Queensland and NZ risk extreme harm to trans youth, UK expert warns
Sociologist who surveyed effect of 2024 UK ban says denial of gender-affirming care has left trans and non-binary children in ‘abject misery and severe distress’

Both of FGEN’s Co Chairs sat down to talk with journalist Emily Dixon about being trans in academia and how recent events such as the Supreme Court and the OfS fine on Sussex University have affected the environment. https://archive.is/oYqXS
This is one reason that FGEN is more important than ever, Both of our co chairs @natacha.bsky.social and @parkesland.bsky.social were interviewed for this article. We've been quiet publically for the last few months, but we have been busy in the background more news in the new year.
My critical analysis of the anti-trans astroturf group, the LGB Alliance, has just been published in the special edition of the Bulletin of Applied Transgender Studies. I recommend the whole special edition - it's open access, no pay wall. bulletin.appliedtransstudies.org/article/4/1-...

Has Streeting EVER said ANYTHING that isn't hypocritical in the extreme? He's created such despair for trans kids that they are self-harming, starving themselves, not drinking & dying by suicide. If he genuinely wanted to end despair, he could do so today. www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10....
We all know that the UK as the homeland of extreme transphobic bigotry, but a few rays of light seem to be piercing the stygian darkness of TERF island lately. The estimable @valorievandieman.bsky.social is Leading Off our week talking UK and Ireland.

The new Aussie critique of the Cass Review does not pull its punches about its failures, & makes the point that "gender-critical beliefs" should be declared. Since transphobes have made so much of having these protected by law, they should be required to declare them. archive.is/AqUGz#select...
The Telegraph, which campaigned against the exclusion and silencing of "gender-critical" transphobes is now campaigning for the exclusion and silencing of trans people.
By "trans activists hijack" The Telegraph mean "trans people are involved"
It's just the same story over and over. Anytime a group of doctors take an honest look at the Cass Review they realize it's bunk. The irony is that Cass and her confederates were convinced they were blowing the lid off a major medical conspiracy to trans kids. Transphobe physicians heal thyselves.
FGEN are proud to be a signatory to this letter. The EHRC must me subject to Parliamentary scrutiny
Along with over 80 partner organisations, we are writing to MPs across the UK calling for robust Parliamentary scrutiny of the Equality and Human Rights Commission’s (EHRC) forthcoming Code of Practice on Services, Public Functions and Associations. Statement: transactual.org.uk/blog/2025/09...
