I get out of bed. I walk through the dimly lit hallway, thinking of what’s in my fridge and what I should have for breakfast. I’ve navigated my environment, accessed my memory, and assessed the energetic state of my body, all in the space of a few seconds. How is the brain able to do this?

Recent research using high-resolution intracranial electrodes reveals that brain activity involves complex traveling waves, including spiral and concentric patterns. These dynamic oscillations may help the brain rapidly reorganize information to support cognitive functions.

“…neuroscientists measured traveling waves of neural activity and observed a menagerie: source waves that appear to emanate from one location, sink waves that converge on a spot, and vortexlike spiral waves.” www.quantamagazine.org/surprisingly...

Indeed. When people say, "you don't need X" what they mean is "my model doesn't include X". Well, the brain does X, so it's your job to explain it, not to dismiss it and the evidence. That's just paradigm-defending, pure and simple.
