I'm willing to bet the State can prosecute because it was a contractor and not a federal law enforcement agent who did it. Now ask yourself, why should that matter if every other situation is the same? And so we're not confused, I'm not asking for leniency but the contractor.

She is expected to survive. 42-year-old Brandon Booth, who works for the ICE contractor GEO Group, is being held on suspicion of attempted second degree murder and other charges.
If Merrick Garland had ever said some shit like this the talking asses on right wing propaganda would have exploded. And for once, they would have had a point.

That's how Trump remembered him on MTP. That and for trying to get the SAVE America Act passed in budget reconciliation. The man had a hard childhood, was a Veteran, and USED to be one of the more reasonable votes on things like immigration. But he was also a nakedly craven politician. (1/2)

For his rabid defense of Brett Kavanaugh during his confirmation hearing. Never forget: Graham’s speech helped push Kavanaugh across the finish line and onto the Supreme Court.
Watching @rokhanna.bsky.social on @meetthepress.com this morning is a road map for what I think everyone WANTS to see from politicians. Not perfection, not the confidence from, "never admitting defeat," but instead showing the confidence to own your decisions and talk about how to learn and change.

The public was warned. Several of his business ventures went bankrupt. He inherited his initial wealth. He is facing over 300 lawsuits. The east wing was supposed to be paid for by donors. Talk about a scam artist.
I talk about this power discrepancy often when I'm discussing police accountability with people. I'm a CPA. If I make a mistake determined to be gross negligence, then I can get personally sued and lose my license to practice, meaning I've lost my career. All the victims lose is money. 1/3
