NEW FEELING

@newfeelingcoop.bsky.social

A cooperative of music journalists and community enthusiastically covering the sounds across so-called Canada. newfeeling.ca

New Feeling and Maisonneuve are partnering up for a Toronto reading event to mark two very special occasions. New Feeling is launching their anthology zine, which originally began as a member-only perk, but now is something they want to share with the world.

Blue poster with a wave-pattern background promoting the New Feeling & Maisonneuve Summer Reading on August 17, 2026, at 7 p.m. at Houndstooth, 818 College St., Toronto, celebrating New Feeling's print anthology and Maisonneuve Issue 100 with multiple featured readers.

In his first piece for the co-op, DeForrest Brown Jr. applies the concept of 'schizophonia' (the separation of sound from its source) to streaming audio, examining how these same systems managing music consumption now fuel the dual-use “defense” economy. www.newfeeling.ca/zero-latency/

Zero Latency: On the Possibility of World Soundscapes beyond Spotifycore Sovereignty

DeForrest Brown, Jr. revisits R. Murray Schafer's theory of "schizophonia" to examine how streaming platforms like Spotify reshape listening and perception.

@tiaalandra.bsky.social has been doing some incredibly creative work with the co-op. here she patches together lyrics from different artists to create a conversation "told through borrowed lines." it's a smart comment on creativity in the face of AI and we were so happy to publish it:
