Genre stalwart John Saxon would have been 90 today. A *very* busy actor who bounced between films & TV, he's in such classics as BLACK CHRISTMAS and NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, and he does a wonderful job in the chilling NIGHT GALLERY episode "I'll Never Leave You - Ever." He died at age 83.

The Australian 3D series "Shaun Tan's Tales from Outer Suburbia" (by Flying Bark studio) has been quietly available for free on BYUtv for months (in the U.S.), and it also includes some 2D segments. >> www.byutv.org/tales-from-o... I made this short video as a friendly reminder.

First trailer for "Tales from Outer Suburbia" series by Flying Bark studio (Australia), based on the picture books by Shaun Tan. There aren't that many big Australian animated productions.

I witnessed this type of behavior during a hospitalization 11-12 years ago. This one lady would harass and physical attack the non-white nurses who were trying to look after her. Everyday it was a nightmare hearing her yell and scream obscenities. People like that need a special place in hell.

Bluesky's new CEO Toni Schneider on the platform's reputation for being a liberal bubble: "Yes, we definitely want that to change. It is already changing. It certainly wasn’t designed to attract one specific group of people."

"The quality is sustained from beginning to end, each four page episode a compact masterclass on how to produce an engaging war comic". The Slings and Arrows Guide gives Trelawny of the Guards a glowing review - and the 60th Anniversary collection is out now! https://bit.ly/4yIbUTI

A thread (starts further up, but this feels particularly relevant amidst the string of “Why aren’t you at [Convention]?” messages that inevitably arrive the last two weeks of July with a cascade of unmasked photos, followed by three weeks of “I’m so incredibly sick with *something*…”

So we should frame the COVID-19 response for what it is: a profound success of public health professionals in the face of overwhelming opposition, an absolute failure of our broader communities to extend compassion to its members, and a sign of the general orientation of our culture.
