Yeah, this seems weird. We barely know anything about ICONS so far. Maybe wait til product is unveiled?

New from TTRPG Insider: we chatted with White Wolf Creative Director about v6 of Vampire: The Masquerade, the rule changes, lore changes and more. www.ttrpginsider.news/p/a-bloody-r... #vtm #vamily #ttrpg
Hot take: The Sword Art Online Abridged is better than the TV show itself. I'm not really an anime fan. I had a short stint in college in the early 2010s but got busy and lost interest. SAO was one of those shows. It's....bad on so many levels.
Big announcement: Game Studies Study Buddies is going on hiatus after the 100th episode and will return in 2027 in a slightly different form. We talk about it extensively near the end of this episode.
The 96th episode of GAME STUDIES STUDY BUDDIES finds some time for a rather big announcement about the show and its near future, but we mostly talk about technology, critical practice, death, and the nature of images with Roland Barthes' CAMERA LUCIDA: rangedtouch.com/2026/08/03/9...
So, NPR talked with the D&D team during the vision keynote (I got my own interview w/ them, so stay tuned). Always good to see more mainstream press coverage of the TTRPG space. Nothing too interesting for veterans, but one remark at the bottom caught my eye. www.wbur.org/hereandnow/2...
'Star Wars,' 'World of Warcraft' partner with 'Dungeons & Dragons' in play for new audiences
But despite its increasing cultural cache, Dungeons & Dragons revenue still pale in comparison to Hasbro's other big property, the trading card game "Magic: The Gathering."

The Ukrainian publisher of board games including Catan and Exploding Kittens is fighting for its existence after a Russian missile strike destroyed its warehouse, wiping out its entire stock of about 200,000 games: boardgamewire.com/index.php/20...
Today I learned watermelon soup is a thing. That does not compute. It’s a cold soup I’m told, but still seems weird to me.
History books try to erase the Great Crab Uprising of the 1950s. Only a cherished few artifacts remain that tell the story of brutality, bravery, and butter.
Appears we might get the Fifth Edition of Warhammer Fantasy by the end of this summer. With only August left, that’s pretty soon.
And GenCon is over! Thank you to all I met. Especially my fellow reporters. Anyway now I need a nap in my own bed.
NEW FROM GENCON: Hope and Fear, the newly released expansion for Daggerheart, will act as a core foundation for where the team's designers hope to take the game in the next three years www.ttrpginsider.news/p/gencon-dag...

I ended up stuck over at the Darrington Press space away from the convention center after a tornado warning hit. I’m told parts of the hall are flooding.
Seen folks ask for these so here you go - a V6 rules cheat sheet I made for myself for Gen Con to quickly reference mechanics, helped me and my players a lot, hope it helps whoever wants to test it out! 🙏
New Vampire: The Masquerade logo, made in collaboration between me and Matteo Ceresa. Absolute honor and privilege to have been tasked with this. 🙏

Seeing some of the other headlines around GenCon from outlets I know are not here are making my eye twitch. Unfortunately a lot of them are Valnet-owned.
Beginning the Modiphius presentation. A bit quieter compared to other panels, but we’ll see what is neat!
Good morning GenCon! Not a ton of panels this morning. Big one for me is Modiphius, which starts here in about 20. The big TTRPG reveal for them is the Discworld release, which came out in a gazette form at the Con. Also some details on the new XCOM miniature game.

congrats to all the winners of the @ennie-awards.bsky.social tonight! Bit surprised by who ended up getting the focus, but working on a writeup at the moment.
This is such an interesting query, since it makes me think of how the new White Wolf alpha is embracing a “post-truth” world and all the general bad vibes of society today
Given how our world (at least in N. America) is descending into a even worse distopian police state with things like flok cameras tracking people (not even license plates), black bagging agencies and more what inspirations have you used for your current games? #TTRPGQuestion #ttrpg #worldbuilding
This is such a minor thing, but the VTM alpha is on Storyteller’s Guild. It’s a nice alternative since Demiplane can be kinda high-demand on the website. www.storytellersvault.com/en/product/5...

There is a weird number of gnome hats at GenCon this year. I’ve seen 2-3 dozen today alone.
