Finally got around to catching up on my emails, of which this was a highlight. I was also ruminating on the idea that George Michael wasn’t ever considered a national treasure (and was hounded by the tabloids) and so him and Heaton form a Venn diagram. Anyway, total aside. Read Pete’s words.

Last night, a glancing reference to London 0, Hull 4 from Chris Packham on Springwatch got me thinking about one thing and another.

After a close family member died in '98 I was given a most generous gift of £10k. The hoops, questions, proof of providence, money laundering checks, HMRC background searches I had to go through to just deposit the cheque was exhausting. Yat Farage can just have £5mil & no one bats an eye?

BREAKING: Reform UK leader Nigel Farage bought a £1.4 million property in cash shortly after receiving a £5m personal gift from billionaire donor Christopher Harborne, according to property records seen by Sky News.

This beautiful object just arrived. I am truly glad to have a poem celebrating one of the most interesting and original poets in England. Sean O'Brien and David Wheatley have done a wonderful job as editors. I learned a great deal from Peter Didsbury and he has much to offer younger poets as well.

This beautiful object from Broken Sleep Books just arrived in which I am truly glad to have a poem celebrating one of the best, most interesting and original poets in England. Sean OBrien and Dàibhidh Thomàis Ciotach Albannach have done a wonderful job as editors, though Sean notes the range of enthusiastic contributors keen to show what Didsbury meant to them, including Yang Lian, Tara Bergin, Vidyan Ravinthiran, Pascale Petit, Steve Eely, Gillian Allnutt and many more. What he particularly means to me was a Northern voice, strong but taking influences from anywhere in space or time that took his fancy. I learned a great deal from Peter Didsbury and believe he has much to offer younger poets here as well. Congratulations all.
