Roger Casement was executed in Pentonville Prison 110 years ago this 3 August (I'm a bit late in catching up). His statue at Dún Laoghaire is fairly recent, though I'm sorry they filled in the sea pool while they were at it. I went on to swim at Sandycove, via my favourite promenade.

Whenever I see the phrase 'saying the unsayable' as praise, as if it's a major achievement. The words are perfectly sayable, it's not like they're trying to read aloud the track listing of Drukqs by Aphex Twin.

I’m launching the paperback edition of Breaking: How the Media Works, When it Doesn’t, and Why it Matters on September 1 at The Book Elephant in Elephant & Castle. I’m very lucky to have Juliet Jacques joining me for the Q+A. 🎟️ Ticket details coming very soon.

Back when I had Twitter I used to offer free headshots for low-income authors, not sure I have much reach here but the offer is still there. London or Birmingham (although I’m in Glasgow and Edinburgh at the end of Aug and can fit in a session. Will have lights so can be indoors).

Willing to believe the science journalist hadn’t seen some of you-know-who’s worst excesses. He’s apologised now. Most of the hacks won’t. Katie Hopkins has an onion in her pocket today, I note.

London loves, won’t you join us please to discuss this extraordinary book, finally being republished to the admiration it so richly deserves

Currently this has 98 ratings on Amazon, and if you'd like to help push that total into three figures (especially if you'd like to write a v short review), I will not stand in your way. Particularly if you enjoyed it. Thanks. #IntoTheGroove
