When you ask a BETA reader to focus in on traumatic content, if they tell you they wanted to put it down and not read on. LISTEN TO THEM. What you need in a therapeutic way by writing your content is NOT the same as what readers need. Get rid of DNF content. #writingcommunity #booksky

From a strictly sales (dept) & metadata perspective, MG ends at 12 (end of 6th grade), YA starts at 12 (start of 7th grade). So (1) the age of the MC. Then there are the (2) Themes: YA may introduce more romance, striving for independence 1/2 #revpit #askeditor

What makes something "upper MG" Or "lower YA" (both vs their usual)? I know there is no simple answer, but I’m trying to figure this out.

I'm most excited about the manuscripts that have great bones but just need to be pushed further. The story works, and I have a million ideas to fill holes or help arcs. If I'm confident in what I can do for an MS going in, it makes the editing process more enjoyable. #askeditor #revpit

When backstory becomes necessary to begin to understand the MC's position or decision, then it becomes important to the reader. Anything before that may be glazed over, may overwhelm, or may slow the story. #revpit #AskEditor

Hi Nicole!!! What are the major differences between going on submission for an agent and going on sub with an agent? Also, are you familiar with how taxes work in regards to a paid author (or one who receives an advance etc.)?
