Hello #Manchester! Made it just in time to sign some copies of the book before @Waterstones closed! Now heading out on the town : am I at risk of seeing the new PM in the pub?
Latest entry in the “AI is awful and is ruining everything it touches” logbook: Formula 1 racing.
this has been fascinating to watch unfold this season so far. Short version: the new power units (engine + battery) have a bunch of AI stuff. This is meant to optimise power deployment duting races. except it keeps doing weird shit the drivers can't stop/control. And they are NOT happy.
OK, that’s quite enough of this. I’ve got time for a film or a Poirot before bed if I put it on now. Page me if something moderately interesting occurs. (Glad I went out for dinner instead of watching the first half, too).
Both sides really, really trying hard to avoid having to meet Donald Trump at a trophy ceremony.
Or perhaps Wayne Rooney was just paying tribute to BBC heritage.
And enough of the haters who were triggered by that ad. I do love the BBC. “Nation shall speak peace unto nation”. God Bless Auntie.

No offence to Bieber, but bring back the Muppets!
Bukayo Saka has definitely improved as a player since he was given the Freedom of the London Borough of Ealing. #AlwaysALocalGovernmentAngle
From an entertainment perspective, football is just much more enjoyable when they actually score a few goals, instead of messing around. Right?
Have embarked on my whirlwind book tour for “Churchill’s Queen”- and the sheer delight of seeing my book out in the wild in bookshops is really quite something. Thanks to those in Cambridge and Norfolk I visited yesterday- especially By The Book in Hunstanton for hosting my first talk. Onwards!
I guess this year's Trafalgar Square Christmas Tree won't be one of the better ones.
Spare a thought for the idiot who organised his book launch party for next Wednesday night.
Stop the game. That’s quite enough extra time, thanks.
My husband has just announced it’s all too stressful and he can’t actually watch the match. I thought he was joking, but no- he’s picked up his wine and gone upstairs until it’s over. 😳🙈
“The meeting was said to be a private family occasion.” Let’s hope it remains that way.
🔺 BREAKING: The King and Queen hosted Prince Harry and his family at his country residence, Buckingham Palace officials have confirmed
Rather shocking development in this story. And somewhat sub-optimal, to say the least, that the original announcement of her death gave no suggestion there was anything untoward. A sad story about a controversial character’s death has now become much darker. Thinking of her friends at this time.

Given the BBC have a largely sensible set of guidelines on the use of quant polling in news stories, including a ban on a poll being a story in itself, it's always so baffling they have next-to-no similar rules on what is ultimately rudimentary qual polling. It's an insane double-standard.
STOP INTERVIEWING RANDOM MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC WHO ARE HANGING AROUND THE TOWN CENTRE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE AFTERNOON YOU MAY AS WELL ASK A CAT FOR HOW REFLECTIVE OF PUBLIC OPINION IT IS www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
I’m sure this is well-meant, but if I had just called a by-election after facing allegations of financial impropriety, I’m not absolutely sure the first thing I’d do would be… offering the returning officer thousands of pounds in cash.
