this wave of canadian nationalism is so nauseating. there's no justification for supporting a settler colonial nation regardless of its relationship with the u.s. empire.

I wonder how the writers who sided with the Giller Prize and that sweet, sweet blood money over their colleagues last year are feeling right now. This is welcome news, but I'm gonna remember those writers going forward.

Now would be a great time for the left in Canada to have a serious, coherent agenda that seeks a structural transformation of material life in service of workers, rather than, you know, keyboard warrior emoji shit and first-year undergrad epithets.

I dunno. After reading the first few chapters of American Gods, I was like, the author is fucked up. Same for the lady who wrote My Lovely Bones. It's pretty easy to tell, imo. Authors often expose their state of mind through their writing.
