Just finished listening to #ThisCulturalLife on #Radio4 for the second time, entranced by Kristen Scott Thomas' interview. Fascinating and witty, self-deprecating character, with a tragic loss of Father and Step-Father in her early years.
Nigel (no, not *that* one) - I ♥️ 🇨🇦

Bin For The Win. 316.18 ppm. Have we crossed the Rubicon? With no £5m security blanket, on a doomed mission to rescue the name 'Nigel' from the gutter. Retired. Former IT geek; still dabble. 🏴 born, West Country bred. Not Canadian, just love 'em to bits eh
Sign up Heidi Alexander for Just A Minute. Wasted on Radio 4 PM; Evan Davis couldn't get a word in.
Oh heavens. #BBC The Week in Westminster 1105 24 Jan. "The Canadian President, Mark Carney..."
I was at the village butchers and he said Tom Jones was outside a few minutes ago with 'that bloke off the telly' (it was Alan Yentob). But he was a bit busy so didn't pop out and say hello. Later saw TJ & AY on Arena(?) discussing growing up and where his Nan came from. A little village in Wilts.
Please quote this with the time you didn’t interact with someone famous - eg one time I was in Cardiff the same weekend as Willem Dafoe (but I didn’t see him or even know he was there until he appeared on the telly later)
@bbcnewsnight.bsky.social - is Nick Watt all right? There was seemed to be a bit of a cri de coeur on 26 Nov #newsnight after analysing Times and Grauniad headliness; sounds like he is missing working in real journalism. @vicderbyshire.bsky.social tried to comfort him / turn it into a joke, but...
I do wish that Rachel Reeves wouldn't interrupt Nick Robinson in the middle of one of his exquisitely long and beautifully crafted paragraphs. #r4today
I'm guessing that they didn't test the lyrics in the non-U.S anglophones when they released Neil Diamond's delightful little song We. "Love is all about wee", and "tying a knot in it" are the lyrics that send me over the edge. Definitely one for the funeral list, but being carried in or carried out?
Daughter, who in the past we could never persuade out of bed, is now, in her mid-twenties, a self-motivated, independent person on the final few klicks of her solo Camino/Camiño from Porto to Santiago di Compostela. Could not be prouder. 👣🥾 Go girls, everywhere.
Telegraph 11/8/25 - excellent proof reading and spell checking for a front page lead
@thetwomatts.bsky.social - Vaclav Havel, let it not be forgotten, also saved Budvar (the original and best Budweiser) from being bought up and disappeared by its tasteless American namesake, after having been tipped off by CAMRA.
BBC R4 Today programme Labour came first, SNP came second, so let's go to the English former head of Reform UK Ltd, which came in third, to hear about his criticism of Labour for having some canvassers up from England...
"I cannot see Republican Congressmen sitting on their hands on this; they're going to push back", says a sweet but naïve British astro-boffin talking about the evisceration of NASA funding.
What a pompous, pumped up fart this man is.

Top eye-rolling by @vicderbyshire.bsky.social on @bbcnewsnight.bsky.social trying - unsuccessfully but not for the want of trying - to get Victoria Coates (Heritage Foundation) to answer the question "How would Pres Trump get 2 million Palestinians to move out of Gaza?"
January. When the Cheese You're Not Allowed To Touch Yet becomes the Cheese That Might As Well Be Thrown Away. But it's *cheese*; you don't just do that to cheese. Now involved in an escape and evasion exercise, hiding behind the tins of Tennant's in the booze fridge: no one's going to look there.
Listening to Radio 4 PM discussion on dinner party etiquette, and what to bring if not the usual wine, and someone said they might bring a bag of chips. My first thought was ”Who that? Alf Tupper?" Second thought was, that ages me...
