Currently thinking about London’s reputation for my MA in Applied Imagination (I know!). The nicest thing my husband has ever said about me is that I’m the least cynical person he knows. SE London.

Autumn of vaccinations continues! Flu! Pneumococcal! Enquired about measles but my GP isn’t sure! Covid next! Woo! Jab me right up, doc! (My immune system is TOO STRONG and it literally hates my guts so it is artificially shackled and so I get all the shots)

Perhaps I’m embarrassing myself with how behind I am with the Anglican gossip, but did you know about what’s going on at St Helen’s Bishopgate? Bishops described in a sermon as ‘unfaithful, clear heretics’. Blimey. Big 18th C vibes. livingchurch.org/news/news-an...

London Rector's Call for Separation Divides Evangelicals - The Living Church

Evangelicals united on sex and marriage are divided over their future in the C of E that permits same-sex blessings.

The other thing about the adorable moppets with the fake magazines is that without fail they address me as ‘Miss’. I can do without this. I have never been nor aspired to be a primary school teacher. Also, they have now claimed a third bottleneck of ground in my commute and just please stop

Today’s resolution is not to mention my increasing irritation that people (who I think think that they are acting against identity politics) think that getting the four-letter diagnosis limits people. The actual disorder limits. The diagnosis allows us to start to mitigate its effects.

Oh hey thanks! What a nice surprise! And thanks for the year spent mostly in Düsseldorf and for all the times I somehow ended up in Köln. Send my love to Bottrop - I’ve never been, but I bet it’s pretty cool cos it’s twinned with Blackpool - and tell Bonn I’ll definitely make it there one day.

Dear people of the UK, this Prize is for you! In 1946, the British founded the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. 80 years on, NRW says "Thank you", presenting its highest award, the State Prize, to the people of the UK, recognising the deep friendship between the state and the UK.

Can someone PLEASE start offering some alternative money making opportunities to London’s charismatic youth so they can stop wasting their time with the fake knife crime clipboard magazine scams

[…remembering before commenting that I deeply appreciate SSK, & that I’d still like to talk to someone at City Hall about misinformation. C’mon Nikki, bright eyes, smiling voice] sounds lovely! I wonder whether anyone would like to join me on a trip from Charlton to the Horniman for fun one day?

For many West Londoners, the quickest route between two places often isn't the most direct. The West London Orbital would change that with a new Overground line between Hounslow and Hendon.

Graphic of proposed line from Hendon to Hounslow. Text below map reads "The proposed West London Orbital would unlock 25,000+ homes, support jobs and reduce congestion"

Colliding discourses make me realise that there’s a bunch of people in positions of influence insistent on attributing internality to LLMs that don’t seem to suspect that women have it too. (Yes I’m sure someone has said this before and better)

No, it’s no good, I’m still feeling sorry for myself. IV meds every four weeks! I’m also angry with myself that I can’t even sulk properly: I know I am lucky that I live in a time & place I can access these meds and that I don’t have to e.g. give up holiday time to get them. Still! Every 4 weeks!

Well, I had a good run of vaccinations without side effects - five years maybe - and then the second dose of Shingrix caught up with me and I have slept the entire day. Woke to news from the NHS app that I now need to have infusions every 4 weeks rather than 8. Pfaugh.

Please bear with me, I’m just going to think aloud for a minute about a pattern I have recognised in myself whenever I have to come up with a new way of doing things - or be creative, if you like

I haven’t even QT’d the Janice Turner thing, which I hope is evidence of some kind of personal growth. ‘You are not what you claim to be and how dare you?!?’ strikes once again tho.

Today I am finding this thought reassuring: the human world - flows of information, liability, justice, relationships - has always been too complex for us to understand we just haven’t always understood that. I think.

The Facial Expressions of Tethys by artist Julius von Bismarck. A suspended high-sea buoy that moves in real time. Sensors on a twin buoy out in the Atlantic Ocean send live satellite data to motors inside the museum. This makes the indoor buoy copy the exact, real-time movements of the ocean waves.

Have set myself some homework of listening to 80s synth pop to a) better understand the noise FM synthesis makes b) try to control my urge to make 67 microscopically different drifty wheezy ambientish presets. PSB Suburbia is undefeated (may not in fact include FM synth per Wikipedia)

This lump of a lad has been on a diet for months now and he still looks like we caught an orca most of the way through morphing into a normal cat. He’s not getting meals from anyone else unless someone’s feeding him in the small hours. As you can see he is furious at this state of affairs.

Bam! the black and white cat bulkily sits on a footstool and glowers at your correspondent, no sylph herself truth be told.

I love this thing very much already. It will let you ‘design’ a sound that is like a wheezy accordion owned by a haunted drunken sailor, then it will play a random pattern over a pentatonic scale with it and then, and then! you can do soothing filter sweeps for hours at a time. Mazin.

So I got a tax rebate and I wanted to be a bit irresponsible with some of it so I got this Microfreak so I could make the SOUNDS OF THE FUTURE but I think I might have a faulty one cos it wants to play 50s rock’n’roll instead
