I worry about how people conversing with AIs is going to promote the Dunning-Kruger effect in general society. I've noticed from conversing with AI on a range of subjects that I have to continuously instruct it to evaluate my thoughts and suggestions objectively and not default to a positive bias.

"let's put crime and corruption in check"? Are you kidding me? Who's the used car salesman from the 80s who thought that was a brilliant idea for a slogan in 2026? Also, this is the dumbest attempt to look like you know how to play chess I've ever seen. The board has 4 light-squared bishops.

As a reader of fiction, I simply don't see any reason to buy new books unless I already know and like the author. What's the point? Why risk buying AI slop when there is already more excellent fiction out there, written before AI was a thing, than I could read in a thousand lifetimes?
Ossoff: "The crisis we must meet is deeper than this presidency. Trump's rise is proof that business as usual has failed, that our politics, sickened by corruption, is failing the American public and compromising our national integrity. And that the hour is late to fix what's broken."

Newborn baby Malachi, whose parents belong to a faith-healing sect that doesn’t believe in medical care, died of preventable and treatable conditions. Thirteen months later, their next newborn, Liam, died from the same things.
These Children’s Deaths Were Preventable. Their Parents Prayed Instead of Seeking Medical Care.
For decades, Idaho laws have allowed parents who belong to the Followers of Christ and other faith-healing sects to pray rather than seek medical care. Since 2015, at least 15 children have died of tr...

"Almost two-thirds of hunting outcomes were positive, 26% were negative, and 9% were ambiguous. Conservation outcomes for hunted species abundance were more often positive than negative [...] Looking beyond hunted species [...] hunting predominantly increased the extent of land conserved."

I can't decide if I'm an idiot for trying to teach university students academic writing in the current academic environment where everyone just uses AI for that, or if I'm just too early. Will there eventually be a backlash trend against AI-writing or is non-AI-assisted writing just dead?

This is seismic news for fisheries scientists. Northern cod is *the* iconic symbol of total fisheries collapse due to overfishing (and other factors) *and* the iconic symbol of a complete failure to recover for decades afterwards. This is like announcing the complete recovery of bison on land.

1 person is alone on one court and 3 people are on the court right next to it, and they're all around the same (low) level. But they still play their entire booking time as 3 and 1 without anyone suggesting to play together. I just find that strange. 🤷♂️
This is so messed up... I mean we got used to random lies all the time when he speaks, but an entire made-up story about being caught in the rubble of 9/11 when actually he was just in his office, watching it all on TV... The total disrespect... Is this also just "trolling the libs"?
Trump claims he was basically lifted out of the rubble on 9/11: "Two fireman, big strong guys, they grabbed me under the arms -- 'got to get our of here!' -- and they literally lifted me up, and they started running with me."
