I swear ever since I went to see Sinners 100% blind, I've been radicalized about how much the internet taints the experience. I don't even watch trailers if I can help it. I don't even want to see a Youtube thumbnail HINTING that a movie might be good or bad until I've seen it.
"This adaptation will explore a morally grey protag", "This story will have darker themes", "This movie will subvert conventions" Please shut up and let people come to that conclusion themselves!! I fucking hate baity articles that often manufacture discourse over a film that hasn't come out yet.
I get that directors and showrunners have to garner interest for their features, but I wish they could shut the fuck up when it comes to oversharing their intent with media journalist. I feel like more often than not it get twisted into manufactured discourse
