“No government — regardless of which party is in power — should dictate what private universities can teach, whom they can admit and hire, and which areas of study and inquiry they can pursue,” Alan Garber, Harvard’s president, said about President Trump's demands. nyti.ms/4jzSS9W

The Israeli military on Saturday acknowledged that the initial accounts from troops involved in the killing of 15 people in Gaza — who the UN said were rescue workers — had been partially “mistaken.” The assessment came after a video appeared to contradict the military’s earlier version of events.

The video of Trump’s deportees arriving in El Salvador is horrific. This is 21st century Nazism. Identities concealed, trafficked to a foreign labour camp. No due process, no evidence of crime. Dehumanised. Where is the global outrage? The crime is historic; the normalisation catastrophic.

Climate change is pushing up food prices — and worrying central banks
Shifting weather patterns are reducing crop yields and squeezing supplies, creating what could become a permanent source of inflation
