JOHN NIVEN
@nivenj1.bsky.social
'John Niven is a fucking idiot. Who needs him?' Michael Winner, RIP.
The music biz's golden age of excess, extravagance and enormous expense accounts came in the ’90s and John Niven was in the front row as an A&R man at the era-defining London Records. What was it like? @nivenj1.bsky.social joins @msmirandasawyer.bsky.social to discuss it all. ➡️ linktr.ee/talk90stome
Can someone who speaks far right explain to me what they think they’ve got on the Southern Poverty Law Centre?
Two things @nivenj1.bsky.social nailed in 2009 were, plainly saying that MJ was an active, predatory, paedophile. AND venting absolute rage at the cowardice driving the media’s utter indifference to that fact. www.independent.co.uk/news/world/a...
Michael Jackson: Bad! And very dangerous
This week, the news has been dominated by Michael Jackson. But, in this highly provocative article, the author and former music industry executive John Niven questions the adulation of the 'King of Po...

Even as a critic who has tried to write about MJ’s legacy with nuance and grace, I appreciate the clarity the director of Leaving Neverland brings to the table

Really pleasing to get a brilliant review like this from a writer I respect as much as John Harris. Headline (which John obv didn’t write) is maddening though. If you read the piece, a couple of minor criticisms apart, at no point does it say anything that negative.
Latest from me: went to Brum to see John Niven's Britpop play & really really liked it www.theguardian.com/stage/2026/m...

I had a front row seat at the Blur v Oasis frenzy – here’s what a new play gets bang on and bafflingly wrong
In 1995, the bands tussled for No 1 – and the Britpop crown. Our writer was on the inside of the mad-for-it contest. Does The Battle accurately capture this divisive moment? And what was Noel’s proble...

@alanparks.bsky.social bought me this (excellent) bootleg for Christmas. Anyway, there’s a great version of Charlie Don’t Surf on it… ‘A one way street in a one horse town, One way people starting to brag around, You can laugh, put em down, These one way people gonna blow us down.’ It’s USA 2026
Time has caught up on Tiger Woods – and it’s cost me. It once looked as though the master golfer would always be a surefire bet, but an ill-advised punt has left me in the rough. ✍️ @nivenj1.bsky.social https://bit.ly/3LhORLL

Never thought I’d witness the end of American democracy in real time. Full blown fascist state now. Europe is alone.
When the world’s most notorious paedo says you’re a terrible person….
Leseempfehlung!

There are British Trump fans on Twitter openly begging him to sue the BBC so we the tax payer can hand him a few million. What a time to be alive.
I watched Trump’s entire Capitol speech live. He 100% encouraged what happened. Now people are resigning over saying that? WHAT THE FUCK?
Delighted to announce I’ll be chatting to @nivenj1.bsky.social about his latest novel, The Fathers, and his career, at Chesham Library on Nov 13. Tickets here: buckinghamshire.spydus.co.uk/cgi-bin/spyd...
I'm genuinely worried about things going south at the No Kings protests in US today. Trump is begging for a reason to trigger Insurrection Act. Not beyond belief there'll be Agent Provocateurs in the crowds. One Battle After Another for real.
“A brilliant time capsule. Debsey writes wonderfully” @nivenj1.bsky.social “A pure delight” Mark Ellen “An inspiring, insightful read” Lucy O’Brien “A vivid, rollercoaster read. Highly recommended” @garycrowleyonair.bsky.social OUT TOMORROW amzn.eu/d/e54ADyT @debseyonbass.bsky.social
"THERE IS A SUBMARINE BEHIND YOU". "Aye,aye,in a minute" Dad loving "The Fathers". Cheers @nivenj1.bsky.social
Live Radio 4 Bookclub recording in Glasgow on Friday with the legendary @nivenj1.bsky.social John Niven for his 2008 debut Kill Your Friends. If you wanna be in the audience, message me and I’ll put you on the list. Should be a cracker!
Thank you @nivenj1.bsky.social What a book The Fathers is. You had me at 'howling pizza'. A genuinely great Glasgow novel..bravo 👌
