It's funny. In nursing school, you have to confront so many things and be able to breathe through it. This is one of those nights. Assigned to the hospital where in my first clinical a shooting took place and we had barricaded ourselves in the basement. I didn't think this would trouble me.
We are back to business with another semester and I am gonna be busy as fuuuuuuck. Deep breaths. Nose to the grindstone. Just keep aiming for december and being done with all this.
So long as Gordon Lightfoot references it as Lake Ontario "taking in what Lake Erie sends her", I will never call it anything else.
I'm continuing my "sit inside" routine in preparation for the last stint of grinding towards the goal of Nurse. And it has been giving me time to reflect on what's important to me. There is a clear crossroad ahead of me. I don't know what the future brings anymore and I'm both fearful and glad.
The lesson to take from Dolly is the understanding that we can and must always do more good for the world around us. She was a living call to action, and even without a spotlight, there is always some good we can do for one another and we should do so no matter what.
Imagine how much fun we'd have if we could teach dogs to swear.
About a week until I start my last semester, and I'm celebrating by re-establishing my early mode bedtime and staying inside without much excitement. Just playing video games lately.

Making friends with and being accepted by a cat always makes me feel like some kind of forest wizard. That I speak the secret language. I feel great when a cat likes me.
