Just saw Claude applying some affine transforms and using the good old trick of testing all composition order + inverse until it falls right. Human after all.

Anybody with some old Leica DM-IL filter cubes (GFP + mCherry) lost in a drawer willing to sell them or exchange against a good bottle ?
Took me 3 weeks to realise there's no curly brackets on my keyboard. Ok. Indeed AI writes it all. Scary.
New chapter: I've joined @sciencesunige.bsky.social as an image analyst, supporting six labs across cell biology and biophysics. Bring on the microscopy and the challenging datasets!
Meet MagLuc: a magnetically-controlled luminescent protein. This is a foundational tool for remote control of biological processes, also known as "magnetogenetics". Can you tell when the magnetic field turns on and off? From @mariaingaramo.bsky.social and the team at @nonfictionlabs.bsky.social
Unhinged Claude: "That reframes your installer question. You're not packaging an app for grandmothers." Well, I like well-packaged app. I guess I'm a grandfather now.
Absolutely butchering my manuscript in order to appease my reviewers. It's like playing jenga, but in addition to removing vital structural integrity, you add completely random shit like a cactus here, a dildo there, some hippo turd on the side, and sprinkle it all with dead bees. ta-da, science.
The new release of #BigVolumeBrowser (0.1.0) finally adds animation render functionality to it, plus some other navigation improvements and bug fixes. Here is a movie I've made for the microtubule network (via ExM) in different cell types. Contact me if you want it for educational/research purposes.
Converted my old elastix + transformix Java wrapper to use the appose.org approach with Opus. Total cost? $12. Worth it.

I retried this given the claimed new capabilities of Claude for (interactive) sketches. Better, but we're not there yet (look at the v0 tangent:
I played a bit with llms and physics sketch generation, it's not a well defined benchmark, but out of Model =[gemini, chatgpt, mistral, claude] x OutputFormat=[Undefined, svg, tikz, geogebra], Claude + Geogebra is the current winner. My prompt - without output format, is posted below
👏 and so happy to see the task progress bar being used!
Thanks to #Appose hackaton with @jytinevez.bsky.social, @ctrue.bsky.social, @nkiaru.bsky.social, @msphan.bsky.social, @strigaud.bsky.social, Carlos, Thomas and Julie, DeXtrusion can be **INSTALLED** and run to detect cell extrusions directly from Fiji 🤩! Appose is amazing
Appose processing hackathon with @jytinevez.bsky.social, @ctrue.bsky.social, @gaellel.bsky.social, @strigaud.bsky.social, Carlos and Thomas . Simple POC with Java calling python through Appose to flip blocks. Promising!
YouTube's real genius: get companies to pay for ads so annoying that users end up paying Google directly to remove them. Brands fund their own irrelevance.
Smashing console logs (which are not errors) -> very dumb bottleneck 😅.
Claude code flexing: ---- For your case with uniform TIFFs on network storage, lazy validation would transform a multi-hour init into seconds. The validation cost is amortized across actual reads. ---- Let's see if that's true!
Is there a way to sync claude code with git: if I switch branch or checkout an older commit then the discussions revert to their states at these previous points / branch ?

"Resist the empire building" Too late! Here's the dependency graph of packages developed at the BIOP for ABBA (go.epfl.ch/abba) (except clij and labkit)
Are there any rankings of LLM capabilities by language? My intuition is: more verbose and grammatically strict languages would perform better.
Finally, the first public release of #BigVolumeBrowser, so after teasers, you can try it yourself. For details, please check the announcement post (1/2) forum.image.sc/t/bigvolumeb...
BigVolumeBrowser: a new 3D multi volume/mesh/point clould (SMLM) data viewer
Hello everyone, I’d like to share with you another 3D viewer for FIJI, BigVolumeBrowser (full documentation link). It‘s a first initial public release, so there is still space for improvements. Le...

We are happy to share our latest work, 4Pi-SIMFLUX, which combines structured illumination with interferometric detection to achieve near-isotropic 3D localization precision of 2–3 nm and resolve sub-10 nm structural features across whole mammalian cells. www.nature.com/articles/s41... rdcu.be/eQVxt
4Pi-SIMFLUX: 4Pi single-molecule localization microscopy with structured illumination - Nature Methods
4Pi-SIMFLUX is a single-molecule localization microscopy approach that achieves a near-isotropic resolution below 10 nm in whole mammalian cells.
