This seems interesting. Splitting the "prediction" part of the transformer from the "maintaining state" part seems useful. There have been a couple of results in this direction recently: arxiv.org/abs/2607.01218

I think an important aspect of the glonzo meme as I understand it is that there is some *real* thing that is actually wrong.
A problem I am realizing is that almost no one knows how to play this 150 year old german card game. But its great! Trust me
