finally read Black Flame by @scumbelievable.bsky.social and I think it has the most loving depiction of a fat person I have ever read? it is also vicious, violent, gross, sexy, uncomfortable, and triumphant. I loved it. if you've not read anything by her yet this is a great place to start, imo.

I normally don't document my sketchbooks. it feels better to just have them as a space to myself to noodle on shapes and experiment but I did try it once! Looking back on it now 7 years later I'm not sure I'd do it again but perhaps another object series? madeofmess.itch.io/the-pantry

Today is the birthday of cartoonist Jackie Ormes (Aug. 1, 1911-Dec. 26, 1985), the first Black woman to create a newspaper comic strip that was read nationally in the US. She created Torchy Brown in Dixie to Harlem, Torchy in Heartbeats & Patty-Jo ‘n’ Ginger. Patty Jo became a toy doll.
