Had an amazing opportunity to join a short-term internship supported by the @czechacademy.bsky.social(Academy of the Future)! 🌿 In Norfolk (UK), I got to see restoration work and research on newly created ponds with the @norfolkponds.bsky.social, led by @carlsayer.bsky.social. Science in action!💧🐸

Going down!!! We started our new "Coast Ghosts Pilot" project today funded by @ournorfolkcoast.bsky.social. This coastal #ghostpond was filled in during the 1980s & we had to dig down 2.8 m to find it below all sorts of infill. Norfolk nearly has 1 more pond back! @timholtwilson.bsky.social

Studys of bat use of restored farm ponds in Norfolk, eastern England led by the brilliant @davidjd.bsky.social of our partner @uclgeography.bsky.social. Overgown ponds restored by scrub & mud removal are massive hot spots for bats in the farmed landscape. Water = life 🦇

What a difference less than a year makes!!! 10 months after restoration for this big formerly scrubbed over #Norfolk farm #pond! & there are 25+ wetland plants in its clear marly waters. It is beautiful!!!

Ponds are cooking!!! Out surveying #ponds restored in Autumn 2025 in Norfolk, eastern England. Water temperature of 34 degrees °C at 3.30 pm is too hot for pond creatures & surveyors 🥵

#Ghostpond restoration is rocket fuelled conservation! Over 4-5 years we have seen 100s of wet-loving plants return to 30 resurrected ice age ponds in Norfolk, England. This year's surveys saw us find more scarce species: Marsh Pennywort, Marsh Speedwell & Fringed Heartwort. So Thrilled!!!
