Following the Oracle of Light's success in restoring life to the Empty, the Crystarium's Empty Restoration Committee (hence referred to as 'the Committee') has dispatched a team of scholars to conduct observations of the surrounding environs. Our aim: to note the sustainability of life, the safety of the ambient aether, as well as the overall restoration progress.

A new base of operations has been established at the foot of Eden's structure. While the team is small still, we hope to bolster our ranks in the coming moons. 'Tis no secret the Oracle of Light's exploits have garnered massive intrigue from the masses. Before such time as we allow public travels to the region, we must needs ascertain the Empty no longer poses any risk of anyone turning into a sin eater.

In a far-distant land to Lakeland, its name lost to time, it was tradition for brides to add a glittering powder to their hair to keep evil spirits away. Generally, the powder glittered a silver color, but one diary entry insists that other colors were available for brides to choose from:

Today I saw a shop at the market that only sold bridal powder. Silver is the favorite of most brides, but I saw pink, gold, blue, and even a violet hue. They sparkled in the sun, dazzling the eyes. Aside from their beauty, locals claim bridal powders keep evil spirits away. Although it is not a wedding gift, I have bought a small jar of each color for the princess, so that she may be protected from evil.

Today has been quite a day. I hardly got any time to myself, what with the preparations for the coronation well underway. It seems everyone in Il Mheg has only just remembered their need for clothes! Yes, yes, the Amaro flounce about in nothing but their leaflike fluff, but even an Amaro must appear presentable before a King.

Truthfully, the Amaro and Nu Mou have presented little trouble. At least, littler than their littlest friends, the pixies. Their thoughts and decisions are as fleeting as the wind, and I’ve found many of them changing their minds thrice a day!

While at first glance children's literature seems the least likely to have survived the Flood of Light, its prevalence in oral traditions has ensured that such fables and rhymes have withstood the test of time and tragedy. I understand your hesitation in bringing a new face into the Crystarium in this time of need, even more so a new branch of study, however I assure you everything I’m offering is in good faith. I do believe the preservation of the Hills of Amber is crucial, just as any other preservation of the surrounding nations. I promise, the foundation of the Amh Areng Research Institute (AARI) is in the best hands it could be as I’ve been in this line of archival work for almost 18 years.

I’ve attached a small resume of sorts to prove I’m not some sort of hooligan wanting to ruin these monuments! It’s an in-depth analysis of the crash site within the mountains of Kholusia and my time restoring and archiving that data site, alongside the plans to fully restore it to its former glory! Perhaps I could give some love to the Palace if this proposal is accepted? Regardless, I do look forward to hearing from you very soon!

…Nevermind that thought, actually. I’m rambling.
There were a million things going on in that moment; I could have focused on anything else. I don’t know why, but what stuck out to me was her dress. Pure white, like the sin eaters she felled one after the other.

The previous one wore white, too. It’s been a while, but the sight made me remember that detail for some inexplicable reason. I don’t know why she dresses all in white, when she could easily have her pick of attire to go to battle in. Tradition? Superstition? Marking herself as what she is?

I used to think it suited the previous Minfilia, but now… now it looks like a funeral shroud. I can’t shake the feeling. I hope she lives a longer life than her predecessor, but I know all too well what fate awaits her.”

The stars are gone.

Stolen from us along with everything else, everyone I once knew. All wiped away under a blinding wave of Light. A river swollen with rain, it broke the dam and swept away the unsuspecting village below. All that remains is a landscape forever changed, and even the sky cannot offer you its consolation.

In the wake of an apocalypse born of the very thing we were told would save us, Norvrandt's own most prominent faith fell as well. Less than two centuries hence, there are none remaining who would truly avow belief in the Church of the First Light, though their temples and relics still lay scattered across our country. But faith, like life, is ever shifting and changing in a desperate bid to survive. From the despair brought by Light came the figure known across our nation as the Warrior of Darkness.

The purpose of this paper is to examine current folklore and rites regarding the Warrior of Darkness and his, her, or their identity. In particular I will be focusing on the belief that the Warrior was a single, very real person who took an active role in returning Night to our star, and the ways this belief manifests across our beautifully diverse country.

HAPPY RELEASEVERSARY TO SHADOWBRINGERS! It's been 7 years since we were first introduced to Norvrandt, and as we collect our contributors' final pieces we hope you're getting excited for the upcoming release of Light's Legacy!

Shadowbringers (considered version 5.0 of the game) is the third expansion for Final Fantasy XIV, after Stormblood. It was released on July 2nd, 2019 with early access started on June 28th.
