A little snapshot of Word's toolbar on a Mac. On the top row option bar, there's a red circle around the Insert option. In the toolbar, there's a second red circle around the Insert submenu. There are two Insert menus! Why did anyone think that was an elegant design? And where does anything live in either of them? And why does the toolbar hide icons sometimes, depending on the window size? Oh, no, you can't add borders today, sir, because you're looking at on too thin a section of your screen. And why does the toolbar hide labels, when the icons are so random? And why does it give so much space to options no one ever uses, like "make this box entirely orange"? I promise you, in 2003 Word was pretty good and did what it needed to do quickly, except bullet point lists and indents and tabstops, which are presumably relativistic effects
