doing some research on Musical Theater for game design purposes weirdly enough
was talking with a friend about 3D platformers and they brought up the idea of "movement slop" which got me thinking about "slop" in a design sense 2 me "slop"(non AI related) just comes off algorithmic context collapse, the natural endpoint of being discouraged from articulation in favor of Zingers
if baldur's gate 3 prerelease->release is anything to go by, it's bc of focus testing/general audience tastes. People just short circuit if characters are rude or mean to eachother in low-stakes ways now, doubly so if they have the gall to be mean to the main/player character.

I'm sorry to say most Rubine enemies during the stretch this demo covers are kinda pathetic and barely put up a fight but there's Lore Reasons For This
