Today, August 4, 2026, is the setting of Ray Bradburyโ€™s short story โ€œThere Will Come Soft Rainsโ€ about a fully automated house continuing on after the family who lived there and the world around it died in a nuclear blast.

The โ€œbestโ€ thing about genAI (the quotes are doing heavy work here) is that itโ€™s really lowered the bar on getting into hand-made art. Literally anything you make is better than ai. Thereโ€™s never been a better time to throw away your fear and start learning that craft youโ€™ve always wanted to learn.

The thrilling conclusion: for too many. But at least a few of them were repeats of the same people leaving their phone numbers so that we could call them back and tell them if we were close or not. Like babe, weโ€™re not gonna call you back. No oneโ€˜s there. ๏ฟผ

Tomorrow will be time to play my favourite game โ€” how many voicemails will I return to of people asking if the library is open on a holiday? ๏ฟผ

All I hear is "Aziraphale and Crowley sacrificed themselves." "Aziraphale and Crowey are dead." "Aziraphale and Crowley could have done xyz." etc. And I don't see anyone talking about the fact that I am actually begging folks to try assuming that *everyone* you encounter is coming at their feelings for #go3 from a place of love, its just that love looks different for different people and thats okay!

A key to the understanding of all religion is that a god's idea of amusement is Snakes and Ladders with greased rungs. ๐˜ž๐˜บ๐˜ณ๐˜ฅ ๐˜š๐˜ช๐˜ด๐˜ต๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ๐˜ด

Had to run out for groceries. I couldn't even see the treeline or halfway up the road, the smog is so bad. Came back in, I feel like I can't clear my throat, my eyes itch, and I've got a headache. Like... I've lived here almost my whole life. We had "smog days" as a kid but it was NEVER like this.

Just finished reading The Paragon Hotel by Lyndsay Faye and good lord. Good Lord. I did not in a thousand years expect that twist. It was harrowing and marvelous and made me almost sick to my stomach. It's one I'd recc in a heartbeat, but with a sort of "at your own risk" stamp in some areas.
