This has been a busy weekend, and I’m proud to share another endorsement, this time from the California Legislative Women’s Caucus, a powerful coalition of Assemblymembers, Senators, and statewide leaders improving the lives of women, children, and families.

I am deeply honored to be endorsed by the California Legislative Black Caucus -- Assemblymembers, Senators, and statewide leaders who have been fighting for civil rights, educational equity, and economic opportunity for Black Californians.
This endorsement is so special to me. Our campaign is exactly where it should be, powered by the very people this office is meant to serve. I am honored to have the support of the California Young Democrats as the only lifelong teacher in this race for California State Superintendent.
Thank you, delegates! At this past weekend’s California Democratic Party Convention, I earned the most votes in the race for State Superintendent of Public Instruction in a crowded field dominated by career politicians without K-12 teaching experience. Please share this post!
Another endorsement! This time from the amazing Cal Berkeley Democrats, who have been registering voters and electing pro-tenant champions to defend democracy and build the next generation of public servants.
Honored to earn the endorsement of Harvey Milk LGBTQ Democratic Club, a historic force for queer political power rooted in the truth that our struggles are interconnected. We need more leaders like Supervisor Harvey Milk who are not afraid to call things out, even within our own Democratic Party.
Honored to earn the endorsement of the Progressive Democratic Club, one of California’s oldest Democratic clubs & a longtime champion of universal healthcare, climate action, workers’ rights, & immigration justice. As State Superintendent, I will keep fighting to advance progress for our students.
This is one of the many beautiful social media comments I’ve received since launching my campaign for State Superintendent of Public Instruction. If you haven’t experienced this, please refrain from telling me how the hell I should feel about anything.
Seeing so many students walk out across the country today to protest ICE and the illegal kidnappings of our families and friends fills me with hope for the future. Thank you to the Triton Democrats at UC San Diego and all my youth endorsers in this collective fight.
Now isn’t the time to play politics when our students’ futures are on the line. Join me in supporting a teacher for California State Superintendent and standing up to these boys’ clubs. #Henderson4Schools #TeacherForSuperintendent #CAStateSuperintendent
Honored to be endorsed by San Francisco Young Democrats! It means a lot to me that, in a race that’s all about young people, I have the most support from youth groups.
Last Friday, my dad died, and my heart is completely shattered. He was my first love, my protector, and my provider. My mind was preparing for him to go, but my heart could not. What keeps me grounded are the lessons he instilled in me and the knowledge that he will forever be with me.
Really proud to have the Bruin Democrats at UCLA with us. Students organizing for climate justice, labor rights, healthcare, and real education reform give me so much hope.
Proud to earn the endorsement of the San Bernardino County Young Democrats, who have been organizing for the future in the Inland Empire. This race is all about young people, and it means a lot to me to have their support and trust as we fight for fully funded, fully staffed public schools.
Rest in power, Joy. Holding so much gratitude and grief at the same time. Joy Atkinson was a mentor, a friend, and a trailblazer who believed in lifting others as we climb. She didn't just give advice. She opened doors and pushed many of us to step into leadership before we even believed we could.
What we need now is not to further centralize power with the governor and undermine voters’ ability to democratically elect who implements education laws, but rather to actually fund education. Even the PACE report used to justify this proposal makes that clear.

Join a weekend of nonviolent protests across the South Bay to demand accountability and an end to the escalating ICE violence that has been terrorizing our communities.

Last year, while I served as LA Community College District (LACCD) Board President, we launched BOOST, a guaranteed basic income program providing students with $1,000/month. It helped pay rent, cover childcare, get out of debt, and stay enrolled. When we meet students’ basic needs, they succeed.
Happy holidays to you and your family! Please consider donating $26 to our campaign to build a teacher-led future for California’s public schools. www.efundraisingconnections.com/c/HENDERSON2... #CaliforniaStateSuperintendent #CaliforniaStateSuperintendentofPublicInstruction
We’re really close to hitting our fundraising goal, and I need your help to keep this grassroots campaign going! www.efundraisingconnections.com/c/HENDERSON2...
I’m proud to share that California Women’s List has endorsed our campaign for State Superintendent. CWL is a statewide force for electing intersectional, equity-driven women, and I’m honored to have their support. #TeacherForSuperintendent #Henderson4Schools
Thank you to everyone who co-hosted or stopped by my event at the California School Boards Association (CSBA)'s Annual Education Conference to learn about my vision. I cannot make it a reality without the help of school board members who make the decisions that shape our students’ futures every day.
I’m in Sacramento for the California School Boards Association’s Annual Education Conference! Come meet me tomorrow, Dec 4, at the Sheraton Grand from 6–7 PM. Whether you want to talk policy, enforcement, district challenges, or just take a breather, you’re welcome in this space.
Public education is the foundation of a healthy democracy, and when we question how we got to the point we’re at now, this is exactly how it happens.
Honored to earn the endorsement of Culver City Councilmember Yasmine-Imani McMorrin, an attorney and mother whose leadership began in the PTA and grew into history-making public service.
Education is in crisis with its active dismantling by the insane federal administration and the decades of neglect. This is the opportunity for us to reimagine and offer a new deal for education in California that goes beyond being on the defensive in this moment. @sacobserver.com
Honored to earn the endorsement of the Wellstone Progressive Democrats of Sacramento, a chapter of Our Revolution. Thank you for the endorsement and these words: “We need a leader with the vision and grit to ensure our students and educational system thrive and Nichelle is that leader.”
Just one week left until I get to meet you all in San Francisco! I look forward to chatting with you about it all next Thursday, November 13, from 6 to 8 PM at Bamboo Hut, 479 Broadway St, San Francisco. Please share this flyer, and most importantly, RSVP by emailing kathrina@marathonvictories.com
We knocked on doors. We made phone calls. We sent out texts. We talked to literally everyone we could. Now the only thing left to do is vote.
