My cynical hope is that if this continues to be declared irreversible and inevitable by those in power, then it’s as good an argument as any for UBI (or: ongoing royalty payments in perpetuity to past, present and future victims of AI theft [everyone]).

LLMs cease to be useful when they can't be used to scam people into unknowingly reading slop anymore. When the typewriter was invented, no one had to pretend its output was handwritten to get people to accept it. Typing had its own utility. LLMs are scamtech that have no utility outside the scam.
