A man of few words

"We're not behind the times! We're groovy!"

My literary one is 'was Hethor indeed the first Epitome of Urth, who caused the rebuke of the Heirodules (the worm in the heart of the sun) and lives on as its avatar of it, and by his mirrors brings forth it's monsters, drawn to try to consume the New Sun? Or just a weird guy?'

What's your personal great white whale of an unsolved mystery? The thing you desperately hope is solved before you die because you need to know the answer? Mine is the Isabella Stewart Gardener Museum heist. Where the hell are the Rembrandts. I need the full story

I don't think this is most of the problem (?), but the cost-benefit for far-right sock-puppeting as leftists or women or trans people and behaving despicably towards Will Stancil is very high. They slander Will to a labile audience and they damage the brand of abuse allegations and claims of harm.

I feel excited about Neuromancer but worried it mightn't have the shabbiness it should. Case and Armitage and even to some extent Molly (and almost everyone else) are bedraggled and woebegone trying to keep afloat financially and psychologically and they're used to losing.

I can't think of any deal to open the strait that doesn't start 'Trump is removed in a meaningful way that establishes that the US is once again able to make deals; it's no longer conducting itself as a cracked out weasel country.'

You know George Costanza is taking the $50k. Mr 'I can't live knowing Ted Danson makes $800,000 an episode" and "I should have known God would never let me be successful." But he's also going to regret not taking the chance just as bitterly.

Yes, this is obviously why the question was polled - "Will people take the terrible, terrible risk-averse option" - but Bluesky refuses to admit that this is actually irrational behavior. It is contorting itself in knots to somehow prove that 5 > 50

This is a really good point. There are for sure a lot of possibilities for even more 'ethical' use of weapons when they are very aware and completely disposable; viz the Ukrainian efforts to hit Russian soldiers and spare the horses they ride. Many such cases.

Obviously it would be very bad if a fully autonomous drone decided to stalk and kill a senior citizen or an aid vehicle…but I mean, also, 100% manually piloted drones are doing those things every day, right now. We should really be addressing both of these problems!

I really liked 'Community Notes' and I feel that the "AI browser" we need is one that adds Community Notes to web page content. You don't age restrict pornography, you just have to read a lot of community notes about it and where you are finding it, it's role and impact on the rest of your real life
