scribbled this in february when i was feeling emotional over strive's ending again, idk why i never posted
i object to the oversimplification of defensive rps. i think the best part of competitive games is dealing with an overtly complex series of weighted rps encounters and i feel like this strive patch removed a lot of them to force you to engage with certain mechanics (yrc/ds)
i greatly dislike this strive patch. it feels like they took what made it fun and replaced it with a different balance philosphy. i believe the original strive balance theory had signifigant problems, yes, but i believe this is worse. I dislike it in the same way I dislike granblue and xrd. i go cf

not to gatekeep but there's this genre of shooter i like to describe as "afps duel/ffa for people who dont want to learn an afps because the movement/item timing is too hard" or "competitive kovaaks" and it is a core pet peeve of mine when ppl compare them to duel games in any capacity at all.
I wonder if there any meaningful changes to gatling systems that affect how most characters play or they're just changing two system mechanics and running my pockets like valve does and pretending it's a bigger deal than season 3 when it's likely worse for i-no. idc until I get patch notes tbh
