What does a whale sound look like? 🌊🎧 This spectrogram reveals a textbook fin whale song recorded by a Slocum glider deployed off the Scotian Shelf with JASCO Applied Sciences. The mission also detected sei, humpback & pilot whales, plus dolphins.

Our team had a great time at the H2O Conference in Halifax, connecting with ocean innovators, researchers, students, and industry partners. We also welcomed visitors into our glider shop during COVE's Demo Day to showcase how our Slocum and Wave Gliders support ocean research. 🌊 🐋

🦇 Bat Glider!? A Wave Glider is now collecting data from both the ocean & sky. In a 1st-of-its-kind collaboration w/ ECCC, we've mounted an ultrasonic bat recorder on a Wave Glider to study offshore bat migration. Recently deployed, the Bat Glider will collect data from above and below the waves!

Polly, one of our Slocum gliders, was equipped with a @rocklandscientific.bsky.social Microrider — a sensor that detects tiny variations in water movement to help researchers better understand ocean mixing processes off the Scotian Shelf 🌊

OTN is proud to support research in the Banc-des-Américains MPA (Gulf of St. Lawrence, off Gaspé), where telemetry tracks Atlantic wolffish and lobster.
