I still remember the day in 1976 when Gary Kildall typed in "dir" to an "A>" prompt on his hazeltine green-screen character display to show me a directory listing on his 8080-based, eight-bit computer running the first release of CP/M, the first real microcomputer operating system (that Gary […]

Thinking about how for years teenagers and curious nerds were prosecuted and thrown in jail because poking at a web site was a clear sign of being a ☠️ CR1MIN4L H4CK3R ☠️ Now it's all like oh no! the computer did an oopsie! no one is to blame, nothing can be done! ¯\\_(ツ)_/¯

What’s a book or series of books you have kept reading despite it getting on your nerves a little (possibly for justified or even unjustified reasons)
I find it _interesting_ that most modern portrayals of fairy tales involve kings, knights, princesses and so forth - the privileged aristocratic classes on top of the social pyramid. Even if the protagonist of such a tale is poor, they are still secretly from privileged parents, and their story […]

[$] CERN's migration path from CentOS Linux to Debian
The European Laboratory for Particle Physics, usually just called CERN, is not only the birthplace of the World Wide Web, it is home to the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the world's largest and highest-energy particle accelerator. As such, its computing environment is both truly unique and of great interest to people outside of CERN who hope to find lessons applicable to their own computing needs. The upcoming migration of some of CERN's systems from CentOS Linux to Debian, which was the topic of a talk at the recent MiniDebConf Winterthur 2026, is of particular interest.

Remember, "I don't know, I lack sufficient information on this topic" is NEVER an acceptable answer. Instead, loudly state the first opinion that pops into your head, speak with authority, and gaslight anyone who disagrees until they begin to question everything they know.
Please beware of the guy in the right. He's a well known abusive tist, to avoid at all costs.
Unfortunately, Kyle/Richard is at it again. Please be aware & wary! His YouTube is now changed back but wouldn't have shown my name if he hasn't messed up, though he will deny it despite my screen caps or claimed he was hacked. The truth is on my side. musclemesmerizer.com/2024/beware-...

[kink, safeword discussion] There are two things that people need to hold as true at the same time: 1. The stoplight system is standard, widely recognized, and you should use it as your default. 2. This does not save you from talking explicitly and specifically about safewords before starting […]

This week I made a wedding gift for the first time: an end grain cutting board with walnut, cherry, and maple, and also I recessed a custom engraved medallion on the bottom.
[hypnokink petplay] Had a nice bit of domestic kink, reading my book while stroking a pup on my lap into a blissed out state and keeping him there for a few chapters. Lot of play around his headspace. We had started with a full on centring myself in his universe, and enjoyed him in that state […]
