It seems like everyone in Dublin that isn't me is here for the UNC-TCU game or Bon Jovi

I build things. Usually out of wood. Occasionally with clay. Sometimes out of words. And with 1s and 0s at the day job. Typically listening to stoner rock. He/him www.oddpegswoodworking.com
At Logan, heading to Ireland to mourn the death of my cousin, taken too soon by the cruelty of cancer. Been busy fretting about the oldest kid going off to college to really process Catherine's death until today. Y'all would've loved her. She was fantastic.
"How do you get your ideas?" they asked, not fully prepared for the answer
Sometimes you need to make a numerically themed playlist. Would've included "4th of July" and "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son" but I wanted to impress the listener (me) with my #stonerrock bonafides.
Today in #enshittification, had to change a hotel reservation. AI chat bot was tits on a bull useless so it hustled me over to a person also so useless they might have also been a bot. Called the hotel directly. Reservation changed in less time than it took me to complain about it on Bluesky.
Boy howdy, this is a hell of an in-studio performance. #Monolord #stonerrock #doom www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBhd...

I mean, he's not wrong. These are all CRITICAL to the bigfoot movie experience. Related: "Devolution" by Max Brooks is a splendid Bigfoot book. Related to the related: "Devolution" by High on Fire crushes.
Here are some common things in bigfoot movies I'll be looking out for: -friends who are mean to each other -government conspiracies -people pretending to be bigfoot being confronted by a real bigfoot -bigfoot saving the day -bigfoot tossing someone off a cliff -bigfoot carrying someone like a baby
New from the #oddpegswoodworking sawdust imaginarium - Rational Vinyl No. 2. Client requested cherry and specific dimensions and hey, look at that, I made it happen. Naming this series after one of my favorite songs by one of my favorite bands. Open for new commissions. tinyurl.com/Rational-Woman
So my 11th pan mass challenge is done! Pretty good ride overall although I wasn't feeling it in certain stretches. Wish I didn't have to ride to find a cure for cancer but here we are. Thanks to everyone who supported. www.pmc.org/jp0400
Prepared for PMC weekend. Riding for a cure for cancer because Fucknuts McOrange Shitshispants and the rest of his braindead sycophants don't give a tinker's cuss about science or anything they can't profit off of. Donate if you can! www.pmc.org/jp0400
I dunno about this sequel to "Thoroughly Modern Millie"
The problem with "write what you know" is that in my post galactic war novel, apparently most of the characters are stuck in meetings where people talk for the sake of talking. Thanks, 30-years of corporate life 🙄
Y'know how when you're at a restaurant and you can't figure out what to order so you just get a cheeseburger and it's fine, just nothing special, but also reminds you of better cheeseburgers you've had? That's the feeling I get with the new Avengers trailer.
Don't be dramatic, Milo. Your heart is cubes of cheese and ham. (Good book by @stephengrahamjones.com) #booksky
The endless murphy bed project remains endless and is on hold while the client decides on a paint color and cabinet hardware so I pivoted to another commission. Vinyl cabinet #2. I think I'm going to call this series "Rational Vinyl" after the Sasquatch tune. store.sasquatchrock.us/track/ration...
"What hell would you crawl through if you thought you could trade/that broken part of you for something even you could not degrade?" is one of those lines that hits me like a goddamn ton of bricks. The value add is the song also has all the solos. #stonerrock diedrunk.bandcamp.com/track/ridden

Went on a late evening walk with the boy, the dog, and the wife. Saw lightning bugs, which was very very cool. Also clocked a baker's dozen worth of rabbits.
Celebrating the Fourth with a blog post that adds nothing new to the public discourse, like a True American Patriot®! (But it does have a cute picture of a young John Odd Pegs and his first dog, Max, who was the goddamn best.) www.oddpegswoodworking.com/ramblings/on...

Having a vivid, relentlessly macabre imagination serves one well until the 18-year old embarks on a two week road trip with his friends. 😟
Thanks to the daughter and the pets, I've got a dad joke template!
It's a fantastic article - good on the Times for actually doing their job, etc. My one quibble is the scroll through animation showing cars hitting pedestrians is too easy to turn into macabre comedy. Also, as per usual, fuck Trump and everything he stands for
A damning NYT report (gift link) about how automakers' pursuit of profit via overpriced giant trucks is leaving hundreds of pedestrians and cyclists dead every year. Also damning, but unmentioned in this piece: The Trump administration wants EU regulators to green-light mass sales of these vehicles.
It's official - back in the reviewing game, sort of. Helping out my pal Chris Barnes over at Hellride Music when the urge hits. Unlike the StonerRock[dot]com days, there's no pay involved, so this time I'm making as much as my friends who play in bands I adore. hellridemusic.com/reviews/corr...

Super fun album by a band that probably wasn't appreciated back in the day.
Grilled pizza last night & had leftover dough so I did the sensible thing and made a bomb ass sandwich for myself (and eventually one for the boy if he ever wakes up). Hot sauce by Rhed's, out of RI. Bacon cooked on the grill is the best. Science fact.
The Tartan Army takeover of Boston is the most delightful hooliganism ever.
Just got back from "Obsession." Fantastic flick, really well done. That's all.
Weird that the sitting president of a country who solely decided to start a war can also be like "I'm bored with it" and not be dragged out into the street by a nation full of people sick of his shit
