Arcade dork from Scotland. Playing, learning, scoring, investigating & generally messing about with arcade games of all genres since forever https://www.youtube.com/c/ohfivepro

No English language rom revision of any kind. Feels like a massive oversight to ignore the version everyone outside of Japan grew up with, especially as there's no other parties involved like Atari or w/e. The gameplay's still identical but meh, it won't feel the same😢

The Aussie PSN store page does say it has English & Japanese voices but doesn't mention any specific rom revisions, so maybe an overseas version will be included? I'll report back once I buy it from Japan shortly or wait for the UK store release in 8hrs, depending on what else I'm doing tonight

www.youtube.com/watch?v=kIk8... The English trailer seems to be using the Japanese version of the game, which is odd. Will the release have the English language version with the iconic 'You made it...........Nick' line?

Combat School seems to have 16 fixed inputs, 8 you can access with a stick, the other 8 I assume could only be triggered with the trackball? tbh I never saw a trackball version so maybe that was a Japan only thing? The game's 100% playable digitally & I imagine that's how most people knew it

this game was originally distributed in both trackball & stick-equipped formats—I've never tried the trackball version but my understanding is it simply mapped to the digital inputs a la the later versions of Track & Field, but I may very well be wrong

The Arrangements were a minor release & G4 was a failure but old skool™️gaming never once left arcades during the grossly overegged 'FG Boom' SF2 & VF2 dominated but aside from them, most regions had another 2-3 huge FGs in the 90s with the rest being just normal games that existed 1/5

One of the many consequences of ppl not having a proper mental timeline of arcade games is that they miss the fact that arcades had a sort of "retro revival" wave of their own in the 90s via stuff like Namco's Arrangement games, Gradius 4, etc. similar to what we got with Megaman 9

Did you ever play the ultra rare Taito arcade game BAS that ACE Magazine reviewed in 1988? You probably have without realising it, as they were reviewing Raimais, which was no doubt installed in a recently released Brent Leisure BAS generic arcade cab The game name's on the screen lads

Tatsumi's been on ACA for 24hrs & I've seen not one person mention that this idiocy masterpiece is pretty much guaranteed a home port. Gonna have to start unfollowing some people😉

We live in a world where if you buy the most powerful games console ever made you can then just buy Mr. Do!, Armadillo Racing, TX-1, Ladybug, Tekken, Hyper Crash, Syvalion, Midnight Landing, Cyber Commando, Rave Racer. Bomb Jack Twin, Karate Blazers etc etc like this is normal, expected behaviour🤯

Trade advert in landscape aspect I've also been hearing from friends in Japan that this was the number one cab you could expect to find people asleep in when arcades were allowed to be open 24hrs In later years when night gamers had to go to 24hr bowling alleys, Midnight Landing was king🛌🏎️🛬

I posted this at 11:39am. I then decided to shut my eyes for 5mins before lunch as it was too hot. When my eyes opened again it was somehow both pitch dark outside & 03:30 am. wtf happened?? Where'd my entire day go?? Alien abduction? Became a cat for a day? idk, good thing I don't have deadlines😴

In other 'animals in Arcade Archives games' news, Mouser is coming to ACA2 today. Not really sure why these are a thing tbh as you could just buy the PS4 game to play on the PS5 & I assume the Switch 1/2 works like that too? Mostly for Xbox people I guess? Fun game🐭 www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_65...
