A familiar combo (GGW: 1-0 in 2026, 9-0 since modern debut in 2022) with a completely new helmet variation! Ohio utilizes camo/tan elements the for the first time ever, with digital camo on the helmet stripe and arched OHIO decals, tan face mask, and tan American flag bumpers.

Still awake? Ohio put this one to bed early to improve to 5-2 overall, 2-2 in the GWW combo. OUr first 3-0 start in MAC play since 2012!

We go to the GWW combo (1-2 in 2026) for a fourth straight road game! No combo has made at least four straight road appearances since 2024 (four games of GWW*, 2-2) and no road-worn combo has opened a season with such a streak since 2011 (four games of WWG, 2-2).

White helmets finally make their season debut atop WGW, and for the 5th homecoming in a row we’ll have a throwback decal—but neither this retro Bobcat nor any other “cat” logo (besides the Paw) have ever appeared on a helmet until now! 😼 The classic WGW combo went 2-0 in 2025.

As this post picks up more traffic (mainly on the other site), I wanted to make sure the full release wasn’t missed in order to properly represent why this logo exists. TLDR: If people are going to call us “OU” anyways, why not reclaim that within the official brand language?

I believe this is likely tied to the previously-reported updated logo system between athletics and academics, but I’ll speculate that the seen-here “Bobcats” script joins the official logo suite…and maybe a quietly-rumored official “OU” mark along with it? 👀

Defended the Frank, ran the ball, and debuted the new black jersey with a sturdy W! Ohio improves to 2-2 overall, 1-0 in the GBB combo (9-2 all time).

The 2026 update to the arched OHIO was straightforward on the “standard” green helmet (expecting the same when we officially see the white lid in action this year), but the “black alt” helmet’s updated arched OHIO also receives a simplified outline.

With the introduction of a sixth black jersey, let’s look back at how the other five fared (regardless of full uniform combo): 2011-13: 7-2 2014-16: 2-3 2017-18: 7-0 2019-23: 6-5 2024-25: 6-0

This will actually be the first season in the alternate helmet era (2011-present) that the white helmet won’t appear through four games! Only 2013 and 2022 come close, with the white helmet making its season debut in those years’ respective fourth games.

I get why we’d wear the green helmet with this one but have we worn our white helmet at all this year?

GBB returns for the fifth year in a row (3-0 in 2025, 8-2 all time), but the bigger story is the new black jersey! It’s the sixth black jersey in team history (first with the Paw) and the first time the Paw has appeared on any jersey (not counting anniversary patches) since 1989.

Full effort until the end. Ohio falls to 1-2 overall, 0-2 in the GWW combo.

We’ll be seeing GWW for the second straight road game as the Bobcats move on down to Mobile! It’s 0-1 on the season, appearing at Nebraska with the same white face mask variation, 9-5 since its modern debut in 2015.

As of now (per fbschedules.com), Ohio’s planned non-conference slates in 2028 and beyond won’t *need* to adjust for a new 9-game conference schedule.
