@ohmyz.sh
The delightful open-source framework for Zsh. Discord 🗣 http://discord.com/invite/ohmyzsh Shop https://openswag.shop/collections/oh-my-zsh
Spent some time recently on @shoptalkshow.com talking shop… We got into the origins of @ohmyz.sh, what makes a plugin actually useful (instead of just clever), and how I’ve been thinking about Ruby on Rails in 2026.
Wrote about how we opted to update @ohmyz.sh's contribution guidelines to account for AI. If anything, I wanted to capture where my brain is at on the topic, should we need to revisit this in 6-12 months. robbyonrails.com/articles/202...

We’re looking for a few more Discord moderators! If you use Oh My Zsh often and can point people to the proper channels, we should talk. If you can also help keep spam bots from turning the server into a circus, even better.
If you’ve ever thought “I should get more involved with open source”… this is one of those moments.
It’s December… so here’s the straight truth. Our primary Discord moderator has slowly taken on more and more of the workload… and they’ll be stepping away soon. We need a few new people to help keep the @ohmyz.sh Discord running smoothly.
ProTip: You can now run `omz shop` in your terminal to browse the new @ohmyz.sh shop location. (may require an `omz update`)
What are you hacking on today? When’s the last time you experimented with a different font in your terminal? Drop your favorite below... maybe you’ll inspire someone to try something new (or be inspired yourself). Your shell deserves nice things. 🌈

You might notice... - Zero plugins - Zero themes - Zero vision for the future. Yet, nearly 2500 developers showed up to contribute code to what it is today.

Robby Russell (creator of Oh My Zsh) says the act of programming is less exciting than what you can do with it. Do you agree? 🤔
Strap in geeks, we're on a wild ride! Fast cars and beautiful terminal shells pair well together. Picking up my new wheels that @ohmyz.sh sponsors helped pay for.
I am not sure who needs to hear this, but if you are an @ohmyz.sh user and you are not using the `take` command, you are doing yourself a disservice. Next time you need to clone a repo, do a `take `. I'll wait.... and you're welcome.
Who is heading to GitHub Universe later this month in SF? I'll be there helping represent @ohmyz.sh in the open source fun time zone, or whatever they're calling it this year. 🙃 Also, who needs a hat? shop.planetargon.com/collections/...
If you’re looking for a reason to visit Boston in September, check out @squiggleconf.com. Last year, they invited me to kick things off with a talk about the 15-year story of building @ohmyz.sh. A weekend side project that slowly grew into a global community I never could have predicted.
What started as a weekend experiment is now on terminals everywhere. Check out @robbyonrails.com talk at @squiggleconf.com about how Oh My Zsh grew into something much bigger than expected.
Check out @robbyonrails.com's talk from SquiggleConf 2024 on the 15 year journey with Oh My Zsh! Robby shares his candid experience and insight on how a project that started without a clear plan managed to gain widespread adoption across the software industry. youtu.be/F7LJhDHjrnk
