It's insane how much doomer-porn there is on YouTube these days, especially on a fresh device+fresh internet connection w/ no history whatsoever.

Shanghai was such a blast to see over the last few weeks, it's just insane how gorgeous of a city it is. I must have done at least 60-70 miles of walking and it seemed many neighborhoods were quite well maintained.

Night on sidewalk with lit treesClean roadway and walkway to ZhujiajiaoGreenery display with a Dog standing about 7-8ft tall maybe?

Me with my Homepod: “Siri, what’s the weather” “I found some web results..” “Siri, what’s the weather” “Weather is the…” (a dictionary definition) …do the people working at Apple even do work?

I recently got the FSD 14 Lite version and it’s really impressive. I just wish there was more competition than just Tesla in this space for consumer vehicles since I want a non-Tesla for my next car.

It’s a shame HN is so insufferable. a lot of links shared on HN are extremely interesting but the commenter base sucks. Tired of the “my last attempt at understanding a modern technical/political/social issue was in 1983” and the “time to paste my 36-char-long repeated complaint about systemd” types

sadly I literally cannot read hacker news or lobsters comments anymore. those communities are too far away from my views and we have little in common has anyone built a text based community forum like one of these for atproto yet? am I thick and missing it?

ive been so afraid of this job hunt, so i hunkered down, rearranged finances and prepared for a 12mo slog. 2 weeks later: - 1 "we're drafting the offer" - 1 pending final review call - 1 "oh shit you have an offer? ok we're fast-tracking our interview process" now to vacation.

ive ventured onto youtube for the first time in a while, and man, the formulaic "omg let me act surprised" preview image thing is just so-so-so lame

I filed a complaint with the @cpsc.gov about a product that I bought and had concerns about. I am *extremely* thrilled with how seriously they take complaints and how thorough and painless they are to work with.

I took two recruiter calls last week but ultimately turned them down since the roles weren’t matching what I was looking for. I get fresh new emails from them to schedule “intro” calls again. like come on, I get it if it was for a different position but this is just sloppy.

If fewer people were like: “We can’t ___ (adopt EVs | incentivize solar | reduce meat consumption) because ______ (I can’t afford it so nobody else with the means to afford it should be able to | I dislike change that won’t functionally impact me | a YouTuber said so)” We’d be so much better off.

And yes the oil companies do lobby and bully politicians but they are able tl because people freak the fuck out when oil prices go up

Time will tell, but I am surprised how decent Harbor Freight’s “Bauer” modular tool storage boxes seem to be for the price. At best mine will see light-to-moderate use, though.

I don’t understand this guy’s schtick with posting misleading info. 1) Yes, I am sure some companies are actually writing worse code due to perverse incentives, but: 2) Ford’s track record of absurdly high recalls has predated the LLM boom, with a lot of recalls going to 2015-2020 vehicles!

Went to visit the American Civil War Museum (which was really well done) and visited the Maggie L. Walker House. Highly recommend both for a #rva daytrip.
