Speaker @charleswatkinson.bsky.social says the geographical spread of OIPA members is really impressive and something that’s useful to bear in mind as a real benefit of the organisation. And we are growing! #OIPA2026

She suggests using the numbers - look at the increased reach of #OpenAccess, use case studies. Demonstrate our worth w/ evidence #OIPA2026

Brand strategist Nicky Borowiec talks about the importance of clarity of mission, and offers a framework for assessing your brand through 10 key questions… For example ‘How do your deliver what you do?’ Your values should be evidenced in the experience of working with your press. #OIPA2026

Chair @paulakennedy.bsky.social asks @uniwestpress.bsky.social about the problem of capacity vs demand - how do you decide which proposals you publish? John says they turned down 1 ms as they felt they weren’t the right fit, but they did help the author by suggesting another publisher. #OIPA2026

John @uniwestpress.bsky.social describes some of the main issues they have faced in growing their programme, such as lack of funding for their commissioned projects and peer review bottlenecks. #OIPA2026

Having actively solicited proposals, @uniwestpress.bsky.social wanted the process to be transparent & so created a scoring framework for commissioning. The high quality & international range of proposals were a pleasant surprise! It helped them to shape the future direction of the press. #OIPA2026
