Living very quietly in a two loom garage with an attached house in the Cascadia bioregion. Mostly things related to textiles, and lots of photos of Victor Velluto, an elegant goofball Russian Blue cat. “Darling, these are my gardening pearls.”

Potential chances to see the new Amtrak Cascades trainset! Tentative schedule may change: Monday, 8/3: Depart SEA @6:20 a.m. - PDX 9:42 a.m. Depart PDX @10:50 a.m.; arrive in Seattle 2:57 p.m. Thursday, 8/6: Same tentative schedule. Again, test schedule is subject to change. #Train #Seattle #PDX

The new Amtrak Cascades train in colors of evergreen, mocha, and cream, glides around a curve north of Seattle with Puget Sound on both sides of the railroad track, evening sky shows in the upper left of the image. Evergreen tree branches frame the train from the foreground and evergreen trees provide a dark green background. The scene is dusk and the train lights are on.

I think the private equity takeover is a cousin to this. Arrogant SOBs that we’ll never meet have decided to deprive us of good, reasonably priced goods and services just because we (The Little People) aren’t real to them.* *Yes, I’m still mad about Joanne closing!

it’s never a great sign for your society when all the competent people who believe in doing a good job for the sake of it conclude that they’re actively being punished for these qualities, while malignantly stupid criminals are making bank

I've had to be creative with enrichment for this crane, who has to spend a lot of time prone while recovering from surgery. On top of more typical options, I let him watch Norwegian slow TV today which he seemed to enjoy. He can watch or not and chose to watch, so apparently its crane-approved. 📺
