I want to be with those who know secret things or else alone. ~ Rainer Maria Rilke

There's a lot of b.s. health info flying around on the socials that should be ignored for your own well being. This is NOT one of those things. The latest science, as published in esteemed scientific journals. You owe it to yourself to read this entire thread. Be well.

"Nearly everyone is infected by a variety of viruses throughout their childhood and adolescence. A handful of these pathogens are never fully cleared from the body. Instead, they hide quietly inside cells for a lifetime, kept in check by a healthy immune system."

Eastern tiger swallowtail (Papilio glaucus) in the garden today. These Echinacea "Magnus" purpurea are fantastic for attracting butterflies and birds. I haven't been quick enough to snap the birds.

A butterfly with yellow wings outlined in black with black vertical stripes like a tiger. It also has a little oblong tail at the bottom tip of each wing. Its body is long, fat and yellow with two thin black stripes that run its full length. It is perched on the orange, spikey cone of a large pink Echinacea flower.

I wish I could separate news stories into two different feeds. One for THIS THING HAPPENED and one for THIS THING COULD HAPPEN IF...Assigning the same urgency to both is messing with cortisol levels everywhere.

I was there, in Philadelphia. It was a helluva party. Going down memory lane, I thought wow that must have been like 20 years ago...it was 41. Forty one. That's over 4 decades. This is not helping my old lady complex.

The neighborhood is a cacophony of chaos, with generators roaring, sirens screaming, chainsaws buzzing as we clean up the mess after the storm. This little oasis survived both the heatwave and the subsequent hail, wind and monsoon. I think every pollinator for miles has visited today. 💜🐝

Question for the gardeners: I found powdery mildew on my Calendula (likely because, I didn't thin them enough). I don't want to use neem oil, because these plants are for making salves and creams. I read the "Cornell" baking soda/soap cure has been debunked as myth. Any other ideas? #garden #flowers

Same title, same author, same content. The one on the right was published in 2013 by Llewellyn. The one on the left by Crossed Crow Books in 2026. I stupidly assumed the new one must be an updated version, but nope. 🤦‍♀️Oh well, another witchy book for the neighborhood little free library! #witchsky

Two paperback versions of the same book, "The Magic of Flowers" by Tess Whitehurst. Very similar cover design of a nosegay of flowers. Left is on a navy blue background, right is on a light green background.

It's that time of year again..the air in my kitchen is heavy with the scent of English Stock (Gillyflower). It's seriously intoxicating 🥰😊🤭. So I'm reposting these macro shots of the blossoms that I shot last year.

Matthiola incana. Around here we call it English Stock, but it's also called Gillyflower or perfume plant. My favorite #flower. Gorgeous swirls of petals, and the scent! It's intoxicating, warm, and spicy. Difficult to grow. Luckily, there's a greenhouse nearby that grows them reliably every summer.

Macro shot of the center of a swirl of petals of the English Stock flower. Pale green at the center with a little shimmer from the sunlight, bright pink at the outer edges.
