Tories taking inspiration from a naval invasion of England.
Honestly guys isn’t this a bit weird? This is a bit weird

Really glad that I've missed most of the MRP discussion...
Declaring, illegally, your separation from a country when you are situated right next to an army based of theirs. Strategic Genius...
I have to tell you now that no such undertaking has been received - and that consequently, this country is at war with Piddington.
Just so we're clear. It's ok to legitimise illegal independence referendum... As long as they are in England?
This is your brain on Meta.
Ryan Bridge - Founder of "Raise the Colours" flag protests - charged with 14 offences including common assault. Danny Thomas - ringleader of Dover/Portsmouth thuggery - an ex-con jailed for attempted kidnap at knifepoint. Almost like they're not "ordinary people with concerns" but criminals.
I'm guessing Dorries didn't look into what conspiracy to break the law means before this interview...
Just Nadine Dorries digging a hole so cavenous and wide as to be visible from Pluto. youtu.be/9Et3igGEKUs?...
Not sure this is the deportation policy Reform supporters had in mind...
Damning silence from Labour on their Napoleon III exhumation policy
A situation which effectively follows this script: "Hey, I would like to do this thing that would normally be illegal to help you." "Well you could just do it anyway." Is not entrapment.
🚨 NEW: Nigel Farage says he’s “not happy” about the Verbatim and Channel 4 investigation and says Reform have been the victim of “entrapment”
- sir you have besmirched the reputation of the British Polling Council, I shall say good day to you - but - I said good day
Mail seem a bit like the 'Useful Idiots' for remaking the left bloc coalition here.
Elections in safer seats always have a lot of commentary about what is a good or bad result. This is probably the best evidence that the result was underwhelming for Reform.
As I said I think the raw vote totals for Farage in an August semi uncontested by-election are impressive, but the vote share much less so - this is actually the lowest score for “the right-bloc” in Clacton since 2010 and points to the Tory voters who either sat it out or voted Binface.
By-elections are not normal elections and this is not a normal by-election. Farage is going to win, but given major parties not standing, it is worth looking out for the proportion of "Don't know's" and Not voting with this poll.
Clacton By-Election Voting Intention: ➡️ RFM: 73% (+27) 🗑️ CBF: 20% (New) 🟥 REC: 2% (New) ⚫ Others: 5% (-49) Via @survation.bsky.social, 16-24 Jul. Changes w/ GE2024.
Little impatient for announcing the mayoral race in Manchester. Then I realise this is because of the reintroduction of the Supplementary Vote for Mayors. And I'm ok again.
It shouldn't take this to make XTC a more well known band.
If nothing else, the Healey appointment says a lot about Burnham and his inner team's ability to stop information leaking. Which in the modern era is a moderate accomplishment all by itself.
Ah yes, you flick the austerity switch and the deficit automatically disappears... 🙄
Austerity “never happened” and Truss is “much misunderstood” in the same paragraph is some achievement (Matthew Syed today).
Should we be surprised that Goodwin no longer understands supporting claims with evidence.
Far Right occasional academic tries to whip up hatred with zero evidence.
Given the BBC have a largely sensible set of guidelines on the use of quant polling in news stories, including a ban on a poll being a story in itself, it's always so baffling they have next-to-no similar rules on what is ultimately rudimentary qual polling. It's an insane double-standard.
STOP INTERVIEWING RANDOM MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC WHO ARE HANGING AROUND THE TOWN CENTRE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE AFTERNOON YOU MAY AS WELL ASK A CAT FOR HOW REFLECTIVE OF PUBLIC OPINION IT IS www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Apropos of nothing, I am going to watch "The Waldo Moment" episode of Black Mirror again.
Genuine advice to other parties with regard to Clacton by-election; don't stand anyone. It's not for the electorate of a Reform safe seat to legitimise his actions. Don't take part in the farce.
That's great and all... But considering the Greens link to Nimbyism as a means to make gains in local authorities I am skeptical.
Brilliant to see Geraldine - our Green candidate for Mayor - putting housing right at the centre of her campaign. We need both affordable housing and council housing with an end to right to buy putting money in the pockets of private landlords. www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater...
My local newspaper has discovered vox pops... God help us all...
So what do you think? Foreign or Home Secretary?
BREAKING - Wes Streeting will not stand in a leadership contest. It's over.
The missing voice from the "open and honest conversation about immigration" debate in the media is always: - the net benefit to the economy, - the exaggeration of numbers by the mainstream media
This is the 17,533rd column in the past decade on the subject of why immigration is the issue that we're not allowed to talk about in British politics.
