first thing I see opening the twitter app is thousands of the biggest manchildren screaming at a woman for posting about earning her phd bc they don’t like/understand the subject matter, what a deeply deeply unpleasant place

Egyptian-Palestinian actor May Calamawy's female lead role has been entirely removed from Gladiator II. The official excuses will likely be the usual: 'unintentional', 'necessary for pacing', and so on. It happened before with Bassem Youssef, a pattern that speaks louder than the blah blah excuses.

It is very helpful when colleagues share these experiences, letting other academics know that encountering a reviewer with a condescending tone happens and that the problem can sometimes be in the reviewer and not the author.

I am missing my favorite co-author and historian of the canal cities on this platform and taking this as a sign that I should strongarm him into joining.
